A performance for (a group of) foodies
This trip to the Western Sichuan Ring Road is scheduled to gather at Baiguolin, Chengdu on the evening of August 4th (Jinjiang Inn Hotel at Baiguolin Metro Station, standard room 189, free parking at the door). Previously, the members went to Chengdu. Sneakers Xiaobai, Qiwancha, and Waiting for the Wind took the high-speed train from Changzhou to Chengdu and arrived on the evening of August 3. (The train from Changzhou to Chengdu is not as difficult to buy as expected. It takes about 13 hours to arrive, three times a day.) So, we met the whole day on the 4th - Delicious Chengdu .

The first stop of the foodie team:
Wenshu Monastery, Dongzikou Zhanglaoer Jelly Noodles
The famous Wenshu Monastery Dongzikou Zhanglaoer jelly, their sweet water surface, various jelly (you can eat boiled jelly in cold weather, it will be warm), Red Oil Chaoshou and Dandan Noodles are signature dishes, and each one is very delicious.
Being accustomed to getting up early, we arrived at Dongzikou Zhang Lao Er Liang Noodles at 7:45. It is said that this is a old store for more than 50 years. It is the only one there so far. There is no other semicolon. It is indeed a laid-back Chengdu people. .
The boss firmly maintains his rule of opening at 8:30. Even though the door is crowded with customers and the tables are full, the boss still sits leisurely like their internet celebrity meow "Black Cat Sheriff" At the table, in the last few minutes, I wiped the windows to show that I was very busy. Ignore customers lining up at the checkout counter.
The three people traveling with us are all good at spicy food. Four portions of breakfast were not enough. We added two portions of red oil noodles to satisfy us perfectly.
Opposite is Wenshu Monastery. After dinner, we walked into the green shade of the courtyard, which is a peaceful and quiet environment. Lay Buddhists walking slowly on the tree-lined avenue can be seen everywhere blowing the cool breeze with fans. , a peaceful and solemn place.
The majority of people in Wenshu Monastery are elderly people and laypeople. Visitors who come here are also affected by the peaceful atmosphere and speak softly.
The second stop of the foodie team:
Kuanzhai Alley, skewers
After leaving Wenshu Monastery, the three of them took a taxi to the famous Kuanzhai Alley (the distance is not far, and a taxi is more convenient than taking the bus.) . Every city has its own distinctive neighborhoods, and I think Chengdu’s Kuanzhai Alley is particularly successful. The doors of each store have their own characteristics, and the interior decoration style is quite high. Various Sichuan characteristics are vividly reflected here.
After walking out of Kuanzhai Alley, we walked to the Chuanchuan restaurant recommended by our friends to look for our lunch. (Classic Chengdu delicacies are not located in the scenic area, and the so-called local snacks on Chunxi Road are just to fool outsiders.)
At 11:30, the three of us placed the first order from this store. In the empty shop, the staff were busy making preparations. After a while, it started pouring rain outside, thunder bursts, and the rain splashed and bounced on the ground. It was such a heavy rain!
The skewers in Chengdu are completely different from those in other places. They are skewered with a small piece of meat or a piece of vegetable on a long stick. The price is also cheap, only 60 cents per stick. For more expensive meat, two sticks are put on a small piece of meat. In this way, the three of us ate a total of more than 260 sticks (delicious! Like!). The billing method is not to count the sticks one by one, but to weigh the weight of the sticks and divide it by the weight of each stick to get the approximate number.
In addition to skewers, we also ate brown sugar glutinous rice cake (crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, especially delicious) and cold cake (it has a bit of an egg smell, which can be masked by cutting it into smaller pieces and mixing it with brown sugar water) , sour plum soup, etc.
The third stop of the foodie team:
Du Fu Thatched Cottage
There are many scenic spots in Chengdu. After the rain stopped, the three of us took a taxi to Du Fu Thatched Cottage. (The driver was relieved to hear that we were not going to Chunxi Road. It is probably very congested there.)
History Tips
In 759 AD, Du Fu went into exile in Chengdu due to the Anshi Rebellion. With the help of his friend Yan Wu, he built a thatched hut on the bank of Huanhua Creek and lived here for 4 years. It was not until Yan Wu's death that Du Fu left Chengdu. Later, Wei Zhuang, a poet in the late Tang Dynasty, found the ruins of the thatched cottage and rebuilt the thatched cottage to preserve it. Today, the thatched cottage covers an area of nearly 300 acres and was preserved for expansion in the past dynasties.

Chengdu was extremely hot after the heavy rain, and the dense crowd of tourists made our trip to the thatched cottage restless. In the evening, team leader Ximen Xu Xiake and other teammates arrived in Chengdu one after another, so everyone couldn't wait to gather for the first reunion hot pot meal.
