Nanjing Museum

Reading thousands of books also means traveling thousands of miles

A must-visit when traveling to Nanjing during the summer vacation – a detailed introduction to the Nanjing Museum.

Nanjing Museum, as famous as the Palace Museum in Beijing and the Palace Museum in Taipei, is one of the three major museums in China.
Nanjing Museum has six halls: History Hall, Art Hall, Special Exhibition Hall, Republic of China Hall, Digital Hall, and Intangible Cultural Heritage Hall.

This is our first time to go. First of all, Nampo is really big! And the architectural decoration is very careful. There are many exhibition halls with different themes. The number of cultural relics on display is also very large. In short, it is really interesting to see. It’s so amazing! It’s full of immersion! Taking photos is also amazing! It’s very flavorful! The most important thing is that I can’t remember which museum I was in. The fifth floor on the top floor is an open-air platform. The scenery I saw on it is the most surprising to me! It’s been a long time since I’ve seen such beautiful scenery! I was overjoyed! Nampo is truly worthy of being a tourist attraction!

Jiangsu Ancient Civilization Museum from the Stone Age to the Ancient Civilization Era

The 430,000 cultural relics collected by the Nanjing Museum are not only numerous in number, but also unique. They are both national and Jiangsu regional; they include items handed down from the palace and archaeological excavations. Every dynasty has its treasures and fine works, including bronze, jade, ceramics, gold and silver vessels, bamboo and wood ivory horns, lacquerware, silk embroidery, calligraphy and painting, seals, inscriptions, statues, etc., each variety. It also forms a historical series of its own, becoming the most direct witness to the historical development of Chinese civilization over thousands of years.

This collection is not only a prerequisite for our academic research, but also the material basis for providing cultural services. It is a huge cultural resource and cultural asset of Nanjing Museum. Nanjing Museum has a history hall, a special exhibition hall, an art hall, a digital hall, an intangible cultural heritage hall, and a republic of China hall. I saw with my own eyes gold-lined jade clothes, carved lacquered landscape pavilion figure boxes, pottery figurines with human heads and fish bodies, brick paintings of the Seven Sages in the Bamboo Forest, and so on. Due to limited time, I only focused on the History Hall, Special Exhibition Hall and the Republic of China Hall. I don’t recommend the Republic of China Hall. They are all small shops in the style of the Republic of China. They are not interesting. I took a quick look and came up. There are cultural and creative supplies available for purchase in the museum, and there are many people queuing up.

History Museum

The six exhibition halls on the first and second floors are "Ancient Impressions", "Prehistoric Charm of Wu and Yue in the Spring and Autumn Period", "Hometown of the Han Family in Huazhang County", "Colorful Colors of the Six Dynasties in the Sui and Tang Dynasties", "Diverse Song and Yuan Dynasties in Jianghuai", "Prosperity of Jiangnan" The splendor of Ming and Qing Dynasties”

It shows the diversity, richness and originality of the typical water town culture in southern China and the ancient material and spiritual culture of Jiangsu from the Paleolithic Age hundreds of thousands of years ago to the Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties~

Special exhibition hall (recommended):

There are many beautiful exhibits in the special exhibition hall. They are exquisitely crafted and gorgeous. They are the treasures of the museum. You can’t live without them for a day.

The plum vase with the Three Friends of Suihan pattern is amazing in its ingenious structure.

The bright moon and mist embrace a pot of gem-carved flowers. A Western clock that combines Chinese and Western styles.

I really like the beautiful and rich feeling of this kind of fancy exhibits. Digital Museum:

Enter the digital museum from the main museum side. Nanbo uses projections of cultural relics as interactive digital walls. Open a small door to see the dynamic characters and portraits at the back. There are also interactive games such as finding cultural relics for cultural relic puzzles.

On the left side of the History Museum, Exhibition Hall 8 on the second floor often has wonderful touring exhibitions.

Exhibition hall No. 9 is the treasure of Nanbo (regular rotation)

Republic of China Pavilion

Underground on the east side of the art museum, there is a "Republic of China Customs Exhibition"

From the whole to the details, the characteristics of the Republic of China are presented. The street scene imitating the European-style buildings of the Republic of China condenses the life scene of the city at that time, which is the epitome of the urban culture of old Nanjing. There are large and small shops on the streets. If you need to bring gifts to your family during your journey, you can Take a good stroll inside, there are many people, take photos, there are also many ladies wearing cheongsam, Chinese medicine shop, silver jewelry shop, post office, milk tea shop, jewelry shop, and antique shop. I am more interested in the jewelry shop. There are some earrings and necklaces made of pearls and crystals. The full Republican style is integrated into the cultural atmosphere of the entire museum without any sense of violation.

Intangible Cultural Heritage Museum:

It mainly displays China's Jiangsu intangible cultural heritage such as Nanjing paper-cutting, shadow puppets, embroidery, etc...

It feels like the three digital intangible cultural heritage museums of the Republic of China are connected and you can see them while walking.

Art Museum:

Fu Baoshi Painting Gallery, Painting Exhibition of Past Dynasties, Chen Zhifo Painting Gallery, Sculpture Gallery of Past Dynasties, Wu Weishan Sculpture Gallery, Calligraphy Exhibition Hall of Past Dynasties, Su Tianci Oil Painting Gallery...

The art museum is on the west side of the courtyard. It is also very large.

Always ask, don't go out, otherwise you will have to re-enter a long way away.

Digital Museum

Located underground on the north side of the Republic of China Pavilion, it consists of a physical exhibition hall and an online virtual pavilion.

Use abstract concepts supplemented by historical facts to interpret the development process of Chinese civilization

According to records, as of 2018, Nanjing Museum has 432,768 pieces (sets) of various collections and 371,032 pieces (sets) of precious cultural relics, ranking second in China in terms of the number of precious cultural relics, second only to the Palace Museum. The cultural relics in the collection date from the Sunstone Age to the present day; they are both national and regional; they include items handed down from the palace, items from archaeological excavations, and some collected and donated by the society, all of which are from all dynasties. Excellent masterpieces and treasures that have attracted the attention of academic circles at home and abroad. Bronze, jade, ceramics, gold and silver vessels, bamboo and wood horns, lacquerware, silk embroidery, calligraphy and painting, seals, stele sculptures and other cultural relics are all available. Each type has its own historical series, with thousands of The most direct witness to the historical development of Chinese civilization

Nanjing Museum has always been free, and among the free attractions, it is the most important and worth visiting in my mind.
We saw a lot of people at the entrance today, and we thought there were a lot of people inside. However, friends who have been here a few times know that the small amount of people at the entrance cannot fill the huge museum. As expected, it was still relatively empty inside.
Blue and White Vanilla Dragon Pattern Note Flower Pot/Kangxi This flower pot is very grand, and there are two Kangxi flower pots placed together for a look.
The stuff made during the Kangxi period was so atmospheric that it was hard to watch the noise.
There is also a pair of blue and white sleeve-patterned shin-style cups, which I also find very durable. I'll go back and find someone who can imitate a couple and use them as host cups. Yongzheng’s large hexagonal flowerpot is also beautiful.

There is a large blue bottle that is so amazing that I almost lose my soul after looking at it for a few more times. Unfortunately, I can’t capture the beauty in photos, so I’d better go and see it in person.
Holly pomelo bamboo knot type narcissus basin/Qianlong, this flowerpot looks very good, it is cute, connotative and grand, it is rare!
The plum vase with the Three Friends of Suihan pattern is amazing in its ingenious structure.
The bright moon and misty clouds embrace a pot of gem-carved flowers, a combination of Chinese and Western styles
The History Museum is a display of some relatively precious cultural relics, some of which I think are particularly shocking.
Treasure of Protection – Silver Jade Clothes
Only one silver-lined jade garment has been found in my country. It was unearthed in 1970 from the tomb of a descendant of Liu Gong, King of Pengcheng of the Eastern Han Dynasty, in Xuzhou City. The total length of the jade garment is 170 meters, with more than 2,600 jade pieces and about 800 grams of silver wire. The shape is similar to the jade garment with gold threads. This is the first Han Dynasty silver jade garment in good condition that has been excavated by archaeology, scientifically restored, and in good condition.
Sacrifice treasure – jade cong with combined patterns of human and animal faces
The jade cong with a combination of human and animal faces is a Neolithic jade artifact made of tremolite nephrite. It is milky white with faint emerald green and ocher markings. The shape is a short square cylinder, square on the outside and round on the inside. The holes are drilled from both sides and polished smooth.

The Republic of China Pavilion is on the left hand side of the exit of the Digital Pavilion. Go down the stairs. After entering, you will feel like you have traveled back in time. The architectural style and street shops inside are completely like the Republic of China period. It is also a good place to take pictures. There are cars, houses, and bricks. Wadu is a good view for taking pictures. There are snacks to eat, drinks and cafes to drink, and cheongsam and jewelry stores to wear. The most interesting thing is the jewelry shop, where you can buy your own customized souvenirs.

tips.

The exhibits at Nanbo are worth seeing. There are a lot of things to look at and I didn’t look carefully. If you are not in a hurry, it is recommended to enter the hospital in the morning and leave in the afternoon.
