Going to Wugong Mountain was a temporary decision.
I forgot where I saw the photo or video, it was the endless alpine meadow in Wugong Mountain. This year Wugong Mountain has just been designated as a national 5A tourist attraction, so there is no need to worry about the supporting facilities on the mountain.
As a southerner with endless longing for grasslands, I was deeply attracted. Moreover, Wugong Mountain is located in Jiangxi Province, a neighboring province of Zhejiang, which gives people a not-so-distant feeling.
Wang Guozhen has a poem "Travel".
Any place far away
We all have a temptation
Not seduced by beauty
Just seduced by legend
Even the distant scenery
Not entirely satisfactory
We don't need to care
Because this is really a
charming mistake
go to a distant place
go to a distant place
Familiar places have no scenery
Listen to the music and watch at the same time.

Day 1: On the road

We set off on July 21st. The self-driving distance was more than 700 kilometers, but it was actually not that close.
When I go out to play, I don’t want to rush. So, I spent the night at the Wugong Mountain Hot Spring Narada Resort Hotel, which is 16 kilometers away from the Wugong Mountain Scenic Area.

The superior double room booked on Meituan costs 508 yuan, including two hot spring tickets.

Brand hotels are a little more reassuring in terms of hygiene.

The hardware facilities are average and a bit outdated, and the decoration materials also have a cheap feel.

For example, this is what a bathtub looks like.

I didn’t plan on soaking either. In fact, I had little expectations for its hardware and services from the beginning.

The reason why I chose this hotel is firstly because it can soak in the hot springs, and secondly because the food is affordable. There is a group purchase package on Meituan, priced at 168 yuan, with an actual payment of 148 yuan (new customers get a 20 yuan discount). Four meals and one soup (boiled fish fillets, half braised duck, stir-fried pork, etc.) are generous in portion and taste good.

My travel experience tells me that as long as the scenery is passable, as long as the food and accommodation are good, the whole travel experience will not be too bad. If you are cheated, it will affect your mood.

The hot springs and swimming pools in the hotel are very good, especially the swimming pool. The water is deep and there are waves. I also went for a wave.

This hotel is 12 kilometers from Wugong Mountain Scenic Area. There seems to be no public transportation to Wugong Mountain Scenic Area, so it is only suitable for self-driving tours.

Day 2: Going up the mountain

The fame of Wugong Mountain comes from hiking. The attraction of Wugong Mountain to many people lies in its rich and challenging hiking routes.

Wugong Mountain Ropeway
The cableway in Wugong Mountain includes a first-level cableway and a second-level cableway.
The first-level cableway, also called Zhongan cableway, Shigu Temple → Zhongan Ziji Palace. Sitting halfway up the mountain, the running time is about 10 minutes.
The second-level cableway, also called the Golden Summit Cableway, Fuxing Valley → Golden Summit. Ride to the top and run time is around 6 minutes.

For a lazy person like me who has a family and just wants to climb to the top to see the scenery, of course I need both ropeways, first take the first level and then the second level.

After getting off the Zhongan Cableway, walk 40 minutes to Fuxing Valley and take the Golden Summit Cableway.
After getting off the Golden Summit Ropeway, it takes another 20 minutes to walk to the Golden Summit.
The main peak of Wugong Mountain, Baihe Peak (Golden Summit), is 1918.3 meters above sea level.
Even if the entire ropeway is used, it still takes 1 hour to hike, which is a bit difficult for the elderly with limited legs and feet. Unless you are so old and strong.

hint
On holidays, there is a sad situation where you have to wait in line for two hours and take a 10-minute ride.

The scenery of Wugong Mountain

On the meadow, there are shadows of clouds passing by from time to time, presenting a beautiful scene of both movement and stillness.

The weather on Wugong Mountain is unpredictable. On a sunny day, there will suddenly be heavy fog. Probably a cloud just happened to drift by.

After more than 10 minutes, the fog cleared and the sky became bright again. It was only near dusk.

The Wugong Mountain under the setting sun is as beautiful as an oil painting, half made of flames and half made of sea water.

At this time, tourists hurried straight to the top of the mountain to watch a sunset.

After visiting Wugong Mountain, the famous Ming Dynasty travel companion Xu Xiake wrote a travel diary of more than 6,900 words, as well as the poem "Traveling to Wugong Mountain".
Thousands of peaks and jade hairpins, five ridges comparable to Wugong Mountain.
Watching the sun, the scenery is like gold being smelted, and tourists are walking among colorful clouds.
"Thousands of peaks and jade hairpins" must be the alpine meadows among the green mountains;
"The view of the sun is like gold being smelted" is a perfect description of Wugong Mountain under the setting sun;
"Tourists walk among colorful clouds", it is the sea of clouds.
I didn't encounter the sea of clouds, nor did I see the sunset. The long-lasting clouds in the west were too thick.

When the camera moves over, it's a different scene.

The mirror-like lake in the distance has an unknown depth.

The world is vast and everything depends on fate.

This time I went up the mountain. God treated me well. At least there was no strong wind, no heavy fog, and no heavy rain. I was satisfied.

As night falls, there are still girls dancing on the golden roof and lovers walking. No one wants to leave early.

At around 10 o'clock in the evening, I came out of the room and sat down on the steps to the Golden Dome. Stars were dotted in the night sky.
In the dark night, there is the sound of wind blowing from time to time, but it seems particularly quiet at an altitude of nearly 2,000 meters.
In the distance, there are thousands of lights.
There is sunrise at dawn. It's just that I didn't go to see it. I had to get up at four or five o'clock, and I couldn't get up.

Day 3: Descend the mountain

When I was going down the mountain, I encountered clouds coming towards me. Is this God's compensation for me not being able to see the sea of clouds?

After going down the mountain, I looked back at Wugong Mountain and its tourist service center.

Wugong Mountain Travel Guide (Regular Route)

1. Transportation

1. Self-driving tour.

Navigate directly to "Pingxiang Wugong Mountain National Scenic Area Area A Parking Lot" (or Area B Parking Lot). The parking lot is large and the parking fee is not expensive. Then walk to Wugong Mountain Visitor Center.

2. Public transportation.

Take the high-speed rail to Pingxiang Railway Station. At the entrance of Pingxiang Railway Station, take a bus directly to "Wugong Mountain Museum" or "Wugong Mountain Visitor Service Center". Wugong Mountain Museum and Wugong Mountain Visitor Center are next to each other.

Follow the flow of people and take the scenic sightseeing bus to "Shigu Temple" next to the Wugong Mountain Tourist Service Center. Take the Zhongan Ropeway at "Shigu Temple" or hike up the mountain.

2. Tickets and ropeway tickets

Tickets and ropeway tickets can be purchased on Meituan-Dianping and Ctrip, and are refundable if not used.

Tickets are real-name, and tickets for special groups (such as the elderly and children) who can enjoy discounts must be purchased at the visitor center.

You can buy multiple ropeway tickets for multiple people to use, and you can also buy them at the place where you sit on the ropeway.

It is recommended to purchase tickets one or two days in advance.

3. Accommodation

At the Golden Summit of Wugong Mountain, you can rent a tent room or stay in a hotel guest room. There are tents with shared bathrooms, and guest rooms can choose rooms with private bathrooms.

The guest room I stayed in (I really don’t want to call it a “hotel”) has a five-star price (700 yuan per night). The facilities and services in the guest house are not as good as those in the guest house. However, it has a hair dryer, WiFi, air conditioning, and a TV. , boiling water boiler, independent bathroom.

The reason why I talk about the hair dryer first is not because I think it is important, but when I was walking in the mountains in the evening, I heard a girl say: "Now I just want to find a place where I can take a shower and have a hair dryer."

Hairdryers are a luxury here.

The hot water for bathing in the mountain is mountain spring water, which is very scarce, so the number and time are limited. The room I stayed in had hot water running four times for 15 minutes each time. In a tent with a public bathroom, the bathing time must be shorter.

Booking platform:

WeChat public accounts "Wugong Mountain" and "Yiwu Huiyu" are the official platforms.

You can also book on Meituan-Dianping and Ctrip.

Comparing prices across multiple platforms, the same room I booked on the official account was nearly 100 yuan cheaper than on Ctrip.

4. Catering

When it comes to food, don’t think too much about it, just bring your own instant noodles, self-heating rice and other fast food.

I had a meal at Jinding Service Point, a bowl of bacon sausage and a bowl of Chinese cabbage. The two dishes cost 123 yuan. They tasted good, but the price was really expensive. In this place where taking a bath with hot water takes minutes, long live your understanding.

5. Equipment

I choose to pack light and only bring the necessary items.

  • Disposable raincoat. The mountains are cloudy and sunny, and the wind and rain change. Getting wet is not romantic, bathing is troublesome, and you may catch a cold.
  • Water repellent. A must in the wild, there are bound to be bugs.
  • Sunscreen. The ultraviolet rays on the mountain are very strong, and I saw someone’s back neck tanned to the color of a roast duck.
  • hat. Mainly used for sun protection, it is recommended to wear a hat with a tie, otherwise it will be easily blown away by the wind. The vendor at the visitor center sells hats for 10 yuan each.
  • coat. The temperature on the mountain is 8 – 10 degrees cooler than below. This time I wore a long-sleeved shirt during the day (mainly for sun protection, short-sleeved T-shirts are fine if I don’t want to take photos in the sun), and only put on a regular terry sweatshirt at night. Choose warmth according to the actual weather, and some people wear down jackets.
  • Trekking poles. I knew I was riding the ropeway, so I didn’t bring it with me. The vendor at the visitor center sells bamboo poles for 2 yuan each, which meet basic functions while being cheap and environmentally friendly.
  • Drinking water, instant noodles (self-heating rice), chocolate, dried beef and other foods. A bottle of 555ml water on the mountain costs 10 yuan, and a bowl of instant noodles costs 20 yuan. I can understand the prices. They are all picked up manually. If you have the strength, bring more bottles of drinking water.
  • power bank. The mountains are actually very boring, and the scenery is monotonous, but you won’t be bored if you use your mobile phone to take photos and post on WeChat Moments. The battery of your mobile phone must keep up.
  • Anti-allergy medicine, band-aids, Yunnan Baiyao aerosol and other standing medicines are always available, just in case something happens.

In addition, the China Unicom signal in Wugong Mountain is very poor and the connection may be blocked. You may not be able to pay by mobile phone, so bring some change. For electronic tickets and ropeway tickets, save the QR code to the photo album in advance. Telecom and mobile users will treat it as if I didn’t say anything.

This water is sold for 10 yuan per bottle, and there are many mountain roads behind.

It's really not easy to make this money.

This is a hat I bought for 10 yuan, which is practical for reference.

Hat + sunscreen, my face didn’t get tanned at all.

Happy return trip
Passing through Shangrao, Jiangxi, I spent the night at "Shangrao Yuelu Kaiyuan Guantang Hotel".
This is a newly opened hotel this year. The hotel is very large, with Chinese style, Huizhou architecture and its own garden scenery.
It's good for leisure and vacation. If it rains, it will be even more beautiful.
488 yuan per night, breakfast + afternoon tea, super cost-effective. I have a Kaiyuan Gold Card, and my room type was upgraded two levels in a row.

There are many ancient trees in the hotel, such as an 800-year-old camphor tree.

Quite a surprising hotel, good quality and affordable. Relaxed here well, added a lot of points to this trip to Wugong Mountain.

On the way back, there was a section of highway with beautiful scenery, sky, fields, and villages.
For me, the experience on the road is as important as the destination, and I look forward to it even more.
