"Pearl of Eastern Tibet" Qamdo

Qamdo City is one of the prefecture-level cities under the jurisdiction of the Tibet Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China. It is located in the Hengduan Mountains and the three rivers (Jinsha River, Lancang River, and Nu River) basins. It is located in eastern Tibet and is at the throat of Tibet's junction with Sichuan, Qinghai, and Yunnan. It is a necessary place for the Sichuan-Tibet Highway and the Yunnan-Tibet Highway, and is also an important place for the "Ancient Tea Horse Road". With Qamdo as the center, it faces Sichuan Province to the east, Yunnan Province to the southeast, Nyingchi City in Tibet to the southwest, Nagqu Prefecture in Tibet to the northwest, Qinghai Province to the north, and Lhasa, the capital of the Tibet Autonomous Region, to the west. As a hub of communication, it is known as the "Pearl of Eastern Tibet".

Qamdo City is located in the embrace of mountains. It is known as the gateway to Tibet from Sichuan and Yunnan. Changdu is Tibetan, which means "the place where water meets". Zhaqu and Angqu meet at Qamdo to form the Lancang River. This is also the origin of the name Qamdo.

The general terrain of Qamdo is high in the northwest and low in the southeast. The highest altitude is 5,460 meters, the lowest altitude is about 3,100 meters, and the average altitude is more than 3,500 meters. Many peaks stand above the snow line, among which the main peak of Nyenchen Tanglha Mountain is 7111 meters high, a ten-thousand-foot-high icy peak covered in silver.

Qamdo is the birthplace of Kham culture. Tibetans here are often called "Kham people" and "Kham men". Due to the factors of living area and social interaction, since ancient times, the Kangba people in Qamdo have early accepted the Yellow River culture from Qinghai, Gansu and other places, the Bashu culture and Yangtze River culture from Sichuan and Chongqing, and the Bai, Yi and Naxi people from Yunnan. The essence of multi-ethnic culture such as the ethnic minority, Lisu ethnic group, etc., and integrated it into its own culture.

Qamdo Kham men are famous for their rough and bold character. The culture, art and folk customs here are not only simple and unique, but also colorful and full of mystery. The famous Reba arts are mostly spread among the people of Qamdo, including Reba tambourine, Reba strings, Reba acrobatics, etc. Among them, Ding Qing's Reba and Mangkang's string dance are the most famous. In addition, Qamdo is also the main area where the famous Tibetan epic "The Life of King Gesar" was produced and spread. There are many famous rappers and art masters.

The climate of Qamdo is wetter than that of Lhasa, the altitude is only over 3,000 meters, and there are many tourist places.

Yiri Grand Canyon (Best travel season: July-August)

In Yiri Township, 85 kilometers away from Leiwuqi County, Qamdo City, Tibet, there is a natural super "big oxygen valley", the Yiri Grand Canyon. The canyon is about 10 kilometers long and 3520 meters above sea level. The forests around the canyon maintain their original ecology. The area has lush vegetation, majestic peaks facing each other, shrouded in clouds and mist, and cliffs thousands of feet long. The widest point is less than 100 meters and the narrowest point is only a few meters. In summer, the trees on the mountain are lush and block out the sky, making the 10-kilometer-long valley look particularly long. The stream passes through the valley, and from a distance it looks like a crouching dragon drinking from a stream deep in the mountains. Due to the special geology and landforms, the mountains have strange and different shapes, and the rock shapes are very strange and beautiful, revealing the beauty of the original ecology.

Kham Flower Capital (Leiwuqi County, best season: July-August)

Wandering into the depths of the sea of flowers by mistake, the sun sets, I am intoxicated, and I don’t know the way back. This is Kham Flower Capital. The sky is the bluest in Kangba, and the green hills are clustered with peanuts. You can clearly see the green hills, but they are surrounded by a sea of flowers.

Rhododendron Sea(Gongjue County, best season: May-June)

When the azaleas bloom in Gongjue County, you can truly understand what it means to be surrounded by flowers, clusters of flowers, and a sea of flowers! The clear blue sky, coupled with the azaleas all over the mountains and plains, is the right way to open May in Qamdo!

Laigu Glacier(Basu County, best season: April-August)

Laigu Glacier is located in Ranwu Town, Basu County, Chamdo Prefecture, Tibet, close to Ranwu Lake . It is the largest and widest glacier known in Tibet. It is the largest glacier in Tibet. , Ruojiao Glacier, Dongga Glacier (White Conch Glacier), Xiongjia Glacier and Niuma Glacier are collectively referred to as six glaciers. This series of glaciers has come from ancient times and has traveled through tens of millions of years. When the outside world has changed, things and people have changed, this place is still isolated and peaceful. Such a natural landscape is unique in China and even in the world. It is an excellent place to watch glaciers in my country.

Jinling Glacier(Bianba County, best season: June-July)

The Jinling Glacier in Jinling Township is the remnant of the Nyainqentanglha Mountains. The ice and snow that have not melted for thousands of years are like the eternal pious faith of Tibetan compatriots. It doesn't change over time. The thousand-year-old seabuckthorn forest and Jinling Glacier are the best proof. The natural scenery hidden deep in the glacier and the immortal seabuckthorn forest that has stood for thousands of years can be said to be the beautiful scenery hidden deep in the snow-capped mountains.

Thousand-year-old Salt Fields (Best season: June-September)

The ancient salt fields of Mangkang Salt Well, which have lasted for thousands of years, are engraved with the wisdom legends of our ancestors and provide precious historical witnesses for the study of the economic and cultural exchanges of various ethnic groups on the "Ancient Tea Horse Road" for more than a thousand years. The bold, simple, exaggerated, primitive and vivid Yanjing ancient salt fields are like a flashing and flowing historical picture, a kind of spiritual soul and a kind of prehistoric beauty.
