Tunisia Desert Oasis

On March 22, 2019, my official account posted the second travelogue about my trip to Tunisia during the 2018 Spring Festival. Two years later, in May 2020, the third post will be posted. Some people will ask, do you remember it after so long? I know time will fade away, but sometimes a blessing in disguise is a blessing in disguise. Occasionally, when I look back at the bad things I wrote in the past, I often feel like I am wasting memories and experiences. Time has made me fatter, and time can also make the content fuller. Maybe I should be lucky that the unwritten parts of this small North African country are the real survivors.

Chebika Oasis Chebika

Wang Shuo has a famous novel called "Half Seawater, Half Fire" . When I didn't understand the content, I always thought it was talking about Tunisia. I went to Himalaya to search if I didn’t have time to read it. After listening to the host ’s performance of “Yuyin Beiping”, I lost trust in society and lost my yearning for life. I have never heard of Wang Shuo’s novels since then... ...His "Intellect" is still better. However, I still like the anchor very much. I especially say that this guy can master the energy of a Beijing girl and the tone of various characters very well and realistically.

From the coastal capital in the north, all the way south to the hinterland, slowly approaching the edge of the southern Sahara Desert, Tozeur is a desert town that is obviously different from other cities in Tunisia. It is sparsely populated and slightly depressed. , the urban area is more than 40 kilometers away from Algeria in the west.

In the early morning of February 18, 2018, we divided into several jeeps and drove towards the vast desert. Our destination was three magical desert oases.

In 627 AD, Tang Monk left Yumen Pass in the west and entered the vast desert. When he was about to die, he was saved because of his horse's discovery of the desert oasis. It’s always amazing to have an oasis in a desert. The car drove for dozens of kilometers, and the weather was gloomy. The surrounding scenery gradually changed from flat sand and sky to some low hills. After a while, it drove into a tropical jungle full of date palm trees. It was lush green. It is the largest of the three oases, Sherbik Oasis, also translated as Sherbika.

The ancient North African country that looks very similar to Morocco is visa-free and beautiful. Why are there so few tourists? It’s time for Tunisia to become popular

Sherbik Oasis is currently uninhabited. It is a tourist attraction for tourists to enjoy the wonders of the desert. There are no tickets. There are only one or two sporadic armed guards to protect tourists, and follow the tourists into the depths of the oasis. . They are very friendly and often take photos with tourists from all corners of the world.

Sherbik was originally a small Roman village in Tozeur, meaning Castle of the Sun in Arabic, and later became the residence of the Berbers. People stay away from the city and live here peacefully, living a life without fighting against the world. A clear spring gushes out from the depths of the valley, becoming the source of life for the locals to survive. Until 1969, a month-long flood destroyed the clay villages and people fled their homes. The buildings we see today are all rebuilt and ruins. There are still traces of water erosion on the mountain, and the faults and folds learned in high school geography textbooks are all exposed to the broad daylight.

This oasis is far from what we see. It is very similar to the description in Tao Yuanming's "Peach Blossom Spring": there is a small opening in the mountain, as if there is light. At first he was extremely narrow, but only then did he understand people. After walking dozens of steps, I suddenly became enlightened. There is a narrow gap between the two earth and rock mountains. It is so narrow that a fat person can't pass through it. Therefore, fat people should not come to this scenic spot. If they come, they can only look outside. It’s difficult to carry a bag in and you’ll get scratched. Just as we were lining up to pass one by one, a group of enthusiastic men and women suddenly started to entertain themselves. They sang and danced. The leading woman in a red hat, red clothes and pink shoes was the most active and even pulled the men in our group. Dance together. We don't know which country she comes from or whether she is a local. From her rough voice and fiery personality, we guess that she is a fierce warrior in her village.

It started to rain lightly, moistening the dry desert and the hungry desert plants. After passing through the narrow entrance, a pool of water appeared surrounded by hills. There were even small waterfalls flowing down from the cliffs into it. The clusters of streams meandered deep into the valley and disappeared into the forest. The Sherbika Oasis with the Atlas Mountains at its back is known as the coolest oasis in the world. People can swim in the warm desert streams and waterfalls.

Some places in the oasis require walking on rugged, muddy and slippery dirt roads on the mountain side. It is quite dangerous to go up and down. If you are not careful, you will get bumps and scratches, and your camera will be destroyed. I almost missed it. So be sure to wear sneakers here to protect yourself and your belongings.

Evidence that the Sherbik Oasis or the Sahara in the Proterozoic period was not a desert appeared. We found dense shell deposits on the rock walls. It is obvious. Sherbik is only 27 meters above sea level In a long time ago, it was the bottom of the sea, and the entire Sahara was once a vibrant tropical paradise. Ever since I was a child, I have been inexplicably interested in things outside the mainstream consciousness. This passion has never stopped or diminished. On the contrary, as I grow older, I have visited more and more places, even those recorded in "Unsolved Mysteries" In places, it is getting more and more intense.

North Africa is located near 30 degrees north latitude. Vicissitudes of life and unknown things have happened here for thousands of years. The Sahara Desert was not actually formed 2.5 million years ago as stated in the encyclopedia. It was lush and lush 5,000 years ago, and thousands of kilometers of vast fertile wilderness stretched across the African continent, extending from Egypt to Western Sahara On the Atlantic coast, there is also the Eye of the Sahara, the largest freshwater lake in the world. Many North African countries such as Chad and Sudan have discovered the ruins of huge ancient cities buried under the desert. Mauritania has a dense network of underground rivers. Herodotus, the ancient Greek historian and the father of history, marked this area on the map of Africa drawn in 450 BC. The criss-crossing rivers, the Western Atlantic Ocean It carries water hundreds of miles inland, as well as a Nile River that runs northwest and southeast.

Maybe it’s because of the Younger Dryas ( Little Dryas) climate disaster 11,000 years ago, maybe because of the change in the tilt angle of the Earth’s orbit, or maybe it’s the Sahara oasis desert every 20,000 years cyclical changes, the last time occurred around 5000-8000 years ago... The cradle of ancient human civilization seemed to suddenly mysteriously disappear and turned into the largest desert in the world.

The people who relied on the seaside and the Nile River survived, leaving only sporadic oases on the earth for future generations to miss and admire nature.

Damehza Oasis

The second oasis is called Tamerza. Compared with Sherbik, it is very small. It only takes a downhill turn to reach the end. However, the stalls of small vendors occupy more of the area. The area and commercial scene are much more prosperous than that of Xiebik. Here I bought the smallest Aladdin's lamp, smaller than the one in Morocco. When it comes to Aladdin, I always ask my friends, do you know how many brothers Aladdin has, then I will tell you three, Aladdin, Aladdin, Aladdin, Aladdin. In addition, colored sand bottles are the most common souvenirs. Large and small glass bottles are filled with layers of purple, yellow, red and pink sand to form different shapes. The picture is Camels, sunset, and date palm trees are the main images, which is very magical.

In the mountain stream, we met a group of children who came here to play. It felt like a group activity outside school. They enthusiastically took us for a photo. Although they were strangers, they could still put their arms around each other, like brothers.

mead oasis

If Shebek Oasis is a place to cross mountains and Damehza is a shopping paradise, then the third Oasis of Mid Oasis De Mides It's the Gorge We did not see the lush vegetation and gurgling water of the first two on the high cliffs, only A large canyon stretching for 3 kilometers, with soil layers of different colors formed by crustal movement and sedimentation over the years, like a ribbon. The canyon was once part of the village’s natural defense system. The village was once a small village halfway up the mountain, but due to geological disasters, the houses were destroyed and the people had to abandon their homes and move to the foot of the mountain not far from the original site.

You can find the content of these oases on the Internet, but not much. What they have in common is that they seem to have filmed "The English Patient" which won 9 Oscars, also translated as "Don't Ask Me Who I am". 》. Our tour guide said that the last canyon oasis, Mead, is the real place to take pictures. Speaking of which, I really want to watch this old movie with the Green Goblin in Spider-Man, the handsome British gentleman Colin Firth and Julia Binoche.

Tips:

If you are traveling independently, you can book a trip to the oasis at the hotel, which only takes half a day. But public transportation in Tunisia is difficult, so we usually go with a group tour.

Price: There are no tickets for all 3 oases

After leaving the three desert oases, it was time for lunch. We came to a place that was not in the urban area and looked like a village. We took the only photo in front of the door in order to search for this place online in the future. Two years have passed since then, but there are no reviews on TripAdvisor or Dianping. Only Ctrip has included it, and there is no one-word review. It seems that it is indeed very niche. From the side, it can be seen that Tunisia’s tourism does need to be developed. It deserves to be prosperous because too many people have not discovered how good it is, and it is better than Morocco in many ways.

The restaurant is like a royal palace in Morocco. Unlike Europe, it is gorgeous inside and It is plain, the same color as the desert, with white walls and blue doors and windows in the courtyard, following the blue and white rules of Tunisian architecture.

The ancient North African country that looks very similar to Morocco is visa-free and beautiful. Why are there so few tourists? It’s time for Tunisia to become popular

The situation of encountering when eating in Tunisia is better than that in Israel, but it is limited. Tunisia was once a French colony. In 1881, it became a protectorate of France . It is located in North Africa very close to Europe. In 146 BC, it became the province of Africa in the Roman Empire. It was successively occupied by the Vandals and Byzantines in the 5th and 6th centuries AD. It was conquered by the Arabs in 703. In 1574, it was reduced to the former territory. The great feudal theocratic empire in Europe, Asia and Africa - a dependent territory of the Ottoman Empire... its tortuous experiences have made its diet diverse and its culture integrated. So, Tunisian cuisine is actually a Middle Eastern cuisine with shadows of European cuisine.

Tunisian meals also have a certain sequence of procedures. For example, you are given olives before the meal, dates after the meal, mostly mint tea, strange soups, Middle Eastern pancakes, meat, and salads. Similar, but Tunisian flatbreads have fresh varieties, not all pita bread. We ate Bangzi Noodles' "frozen dough cake" in this restaurant. It was fluffy and fragrant, with a smoky smell. It was quite delicious, and the mustard mustard was enough to withstand everything.

The first course of the meal is usually a small plate of Chorba, a soup made with spices, containing chopped tomatoes, onions, beef and mutton, carrots, vegetables, chickpeas, etc. Occasionally, there will be millet, which is very similar to borscht, with a sour and salty taste. It is okay to eat with cakes, and it is okay to drink it once or twice, but I can't stand it after drinking it all the time, and it always tastes weird. What was served next was a thin egg pancake like a big dumpling, called Brick. It has fillings inside, and sometimes it is deformed, such as a triangle, or a semicircle that is folded again, This egg must not be fully cooked and needs to be soft-boiled, but an unmarried woman cannot let the sugar heart flow out when eating it, otherwise there is a risk of not being able to get married. The filling inside is usually fish, and sometimes the oil is too much, which makes this dish not very acceptable.

A more common dish is Tunisia’s national dish Couscous. This is an authentic dish that originated in North Africa. It was not introduced from outside. It later became a dish in West Africa, France, Spain, Sicily and other places. one of the main foods. There is millet-like rice spread underneath. In fact, the so-called millet is actually a kind of wheat. The things sprinkled on top are different from house to house. It is nothing more than potatoes, eggs, tube noodles, chickpeas, tomatoes, onions, meat and a bunch of other things. It is the "Tunis rice bowl", which is rice, stew, and stew. Eat.

Generally, local typical Tunisian restaurants will also provide the famous Harissa chili sauce, which is a seasoning in French cuisine. It is a chili sauce made with red pepper and curry sauce and eaten with bread. Yes, France has a profound influence on Tunisian culture.

I remember the first meal I had in Cappadocia, Turkey. There was crockpot beef in the cave restaurant. It is also available in Tunisia. It is a famous southern specialty. They are cooked in the same way. First put beef or mutton, tomatoes, green peppers, potatoes, pepper, salt, spices , etc. into the earthen pot, and seal the mouth of the pot with flour ,It is baked in a sand pit under charcoal fire. It can also be grilled using modern methods. It can be eaten after about an hour. When eating, use a knife to open it in front of the guests and remove the inside. The stuff is poured out and tastes good. The locals have a light taste, but China has a heavy population and loves to eat salty food, so it is necessary to bring your own food to go with it.

The mint tea in Tunisia is different from that in Morocco. In the former, there is only tea but no mint. In Morocco, mint is spread all over the tea. Tozeur is a famous date palm producing area in the world, and a few soft and sweet dates are the perfect end to the meal. In addition, Tunisians like to drink the local "Celtia" beer, which is light, refreshing and not high in alcohol. You can try it. There is also Boukha wine made from figs and Thibarine wine made from dates. Mechouia, a grilled vegetable salad, is also indispensable for three meals a day.

Tozeur Market

put up exist The yellow color of Tozeur in the desert is its main theme. Under the scorching sun of the Sahara, the shadows cast by the date palm trees fell on the small bricks unique to the city. This small brick is made of date palm branches and local clay. The main building material in Tozeur is this small brick. It is economical, beautiful, and does not waste resources. Architectural features of Tozeur . Yellow bricks are arranged by construction workers Different geometric shapes such as rhombus, herringbone, hexagon, etc. , The small brick wall is uneven and well-proportioned. A trail leads to the market in the city center. Sightseeing horse-drawn carriages pass by, and the crisp sound of horse hooves and the smile of the coachman break the heat.

What I love, love and look forward to the most when traveling is shopping in small shops. The city center of Tozeur is more popular than any other place I have seen. There is a market here that tourists must visit, and the locals also Purchase their daily necessities, food and clothing here. I couldn't find any information about this market on the Internet. The city is not big and it can be reached within walking distance.

The minaret of the mosque is always the first thing that catches your attention. When you walk into the door that looks exactly like Morocco, you will reach their village. The serrations at the top of the door are like the Great Wall. The inner circle and the outer square are completely opposite to the Chinese philosophy of outer circle and inner square. If you want to visit the market, don't enter this door. Go in the opposite direction.

The old town still retains its original appearance, with people wearing simple-colored clothing or traditional patterned coats chatting on the side of the road and living leisurely lives. My dad and I were walking on the path and stopped at a barber shop. I was attracted by the barber, the kids and the chairs. Because that child looked very much like me when I was a child, I found another small bench sitting under his butt. When I was a kid, I didn't like to take care of my hair. I would cry when I got a haircut, and I would cry after I got a haircut, saying that my hair would be returned to me. Because I was too short, the barber couldn't reach me, so I had to sit on the bench. I still remember that big cast iron chair, with a white frame, black leather cover, and pedals underneath. Decades have passed, and I have only seen the same one at the Pig Pen Bar Country Inn Old Oil Factory.

The most colorful and eye-catching thing on the market, and also the most sold, is the date palm. Wheat is grown in northern Tunisia, peaches and plums are grown in central part, and dates are grown in southern Tunisia. Tunisia is the second largest date palm producer in the world (Iraq is the largest, and the candied Iraqi dates I ate as a child are date palms), Tozeur is the hometown of date palms, and oases and cities are full of date palm trees. ,The area of date palm forest in the central area can reach 1,000 hectares and 200,000 trees. We find both date palm trees and palm trees on the street. How can we tell them apart? The answer is that date palm trees are long and forked, and palm trees are cattail fans. You can understand that date palm trees are chicken paws, and palm trees are duck webs. Palm trees are the king of trees in this area. The floors and beams in local homes are made of palm trunks.

In the city of Tozeur, there is one male tree for every 70 female date palm trees. The male trees are planted on the roadside and the female trees are in the plantations. Because natural pollination is not effective, artificial pollination is also required. December is the picking season, and if you go there at that time, you can eat fresh and super sweet dates. Most of the picked date palm branches are placed under the tree. The smoke produced by burning them can repel insects. It is a natural insect repellent. The date palm tree is full of treasures.

In Tunisia, date palms are planted on at least 40,000 hectares. The main production areas are the Salt Lake of Shotjeret and the Nefza-oua region, covering about 23,000 hectares, accounting for 53% of the national production. The Salt Lake of Shotjeret is located just south of Tozeur. There are more than 250 varieties of date palms, including Deglet Nour, Kenta, Al-lig, Khouat Allig The four varieties are The main crops grown in Tunisia are DegletNour is the largest, accounting for about 65% , this variety has extremely high commercial value, so most of it is exported. Morocco is the largest exporter of Tunisian dates. Others France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Russia, Turkey, Malaysia, Belgium and other Middle East regions. Red Allig The taste is sweet, DegletNour The meat is tender and melts in your mouth. Tunisians also eat dates on the Add a little bit Salted butter, made into date balls Rfiss. Tozeur dates are known Best Tunisian Dates, The amber is translucent and the honey inside seems to be flowing out. People named it "amber". Fingers of Light".

Date palms are very sweet, have a long shelf life, are called desert bread, and 6 of them can provide enough energy for the day. When serving with food, it should be placed after dessert, otherwise the strong sweetness will overshadow the dessert. Generally, Tunisians don’t add sugar when drinking coffee. They take a sip of coffee with a sip of dates.

Be careful to look carefully when buying. Be sure to buy the ones hanging outside in bunches. You can see each one. They are plump and fresh. Do not buy them sealed in boxes because they have a thin surface. The quality is good, but it’s hard to say about the bottom layer. The bottom layer I bought was a bit small and dry. There are large bundles of 10 kilograms each, and they are not sold in bulk, so you have to buy them together. The good thing about the box is that it is small. I think it costs 10 yuan for four or five pounds.

The open-air carpets and fronts of small shops are filled with hand-woven bags, bags, and baskets, most of which are decorated with blue eyes. This kind of decoration is very common in Middle Eastern countries, especially Turkey and Israel. I remember mentioning it in several travel notes. Blue eyes are called devil’s eyes. are things that can absorb negative energy around you. They are actually consumables, but many foreigners think they are purely Decorate by always wearing a blue-eyed ornament, or hang it at home. When it is full, it will be counterproductive and double the release. But you don’t know when it will be full, so you have to change it every once in a while. Therefore, it is not recommended to buy anything with blue eyes.

Look at the small clay pots in the basket on the ground, which are worth buying. There are also the clay pots with a missing piece of the belly, which are used to hold vegetables, especially earthen pots for cattle and sheep, just like our tiles serve as plates.

Some markets are covered with vaults. This market is mostly open-air or semi-open-air. On a small road behind the square, we discovered this super beautiful alley. There are small shops on both sides. The top of the head is covered with woven fabrics, and various carpets and shawls are hung. Tunisian-style colors and patterns are beautiful when the sunlight shines on them.

Tunisia In ancient times, it was an important city on the transportation and trade routes in the Sahara Desert. During the Roman occupation, it was the center of economic and trade exchanges between Libya in the east and Algeria in the west. At that time, prices in Libya were cheaper than in Tunisia, and Algeria was short of resources. Tunisians started a business of buying low and selling high, transporting Libyan goods to Algeria for sale and making a profit.

In this small alley, which has no modern atmosphere and is full of exotic charm, there are rows of shops, each selling handicrafts, antiques, daily necessities, fabrics, and skin care products. They are beautiful from the outside to the inside. They use bold colors and strong contrast to impact people's vision.

This small shop with beautiful green doors and windows is the most exquisite, but the prices are not cheap. Of course, you have to be able to bargain, but there is nothing you can do if you encounter this shop that refuses to lower its prices.

The shop has two floors. The first floor mainly sells silverware, skin care products and fabrics. They mainly sell hard burlap scarves with bright colors. I bought it. Although the quality is not good and the price is not cheap, it belongs to the handsome guy from the group. Mom said you shouldn't buy it...then I bought it too.

The second floor sells a lot of porcelain and tableware, and there are also a few seats arranged inexplicably. It doesn't look like a rest area, but it can be used as a photo location. There are many handmade silver bookmarks and mini utensils at the front desk payment area. Of course, I also took action. The concept I believe in is that you should not miss it when you pass by. I would rather buy 1,000 by mistake than let one go.

The small shop next to it is also very exquisite. It is small, narrow and cramped. Be careful not to get scratched when you go in with a backpack. This store sells art, North African-style paintings and mosaics, and beautiful tagines. You can also buy fabrics such as scarves and shawls.

This small market is worth settling down and strolling around slowly. The charm of the market and the cultural customs are much more interesting than visiting the scenic spots.

In my previous experience of group travel, I would like to mention a bracket here. Until January 2019, all my previous outbound travels were with group tours. I found that the more niche the destination, the younger the age of the group members. Personally, The quality is also high. In the past, only when visiting popular countries, you would encounter groups of aunties with loud voices and loud voices. This time there were only a dozen people in the Tunisian group, more than half of whom were young people, with the youngest in high school. A few of us kids around the same age did the wrong thing after visiting the collective market and snuck out of the hotel to explore Tozeur on our own.

We walked towards the city center according to the map, turned a corner and found a museum Musee Dar Chera, and decided to go in and have a look. There is a separate fee for admission to the exhibition halls and a garden in the museum, 10 dinars each.

The exhibition hall has several floors, displaying Tunisia's humanistic customs, folk customs, living habits and living scenes. The familiar production and living utensils are very similar to those in ancient my country. Precious historical documents and photos are also on display. Those regular wall patterns and colors always make me feel excited and prove that I am in a foreign land.

Although I am far away in Africa, when I came back from Jordan, I looked back at this city in the southern border of Tunisia. When I visited the little-known museum, I found that it was the same as the life of the Arabs in Jordan. Everything was the same. We often felt dizzy when reading the information. A series of words came out one after another, with similar names that seemed to be related to each other, but in fact many of them were unrelated. The names that differ are successions or causes and consequences, such as Ancient Rome, Roman Empire, Holy Roman Empire The Byzantine Empire, the Eastern Roman Empire, the Roman Republic, the Ottoman Empire, and so on. I really want to clear my mind and leave myself a record of my thoughts for future reference. I will write it here. If anyone can see the mistakes, please feel free to point them out.

The ancient Rome in these names is actually a general term. It is neither the current city of Rome, the capital of Italy, nor a country. It represents a period, including the three stages of "Rome", called Rome because the city of Rome was the birthplace of ancient Rome.

The civilization that arose in the Italian Peninsula in the early 9th century BC, which is now the central part of the Apennine Peninsula. The first stage was the Roman monarchy from 753 BC to 509 BC, and the second stage was the Roman period from 509 BC to 27 BC. The Republic began its expansion and development. From the 3rd century BC to the 2nd century BC, the Roman Republic fought for Mediterranean hegemony, plundered resources and slaves, and fought three wars with Carthage, a powerful country in the western Mediterranean, which is now Tunisia. Three Wars They're all called the Punic Wars. I will write about Carthage later. It was our last stop in Tunisia. We returned to the capital city of Tunis to visit. If you come to Tunis without seeing Carthage, it means you have not come. The tug-of-war of the First War lasted for 23 years. In the end, Rome won, replacing Carthage and becoming the most powerful country around the Mediterranean.

Shortly after the end of the first war, Carthage began to prepare for the second war, but it still ended in a disastrous defeat. After 16 years of hard fighting, it lost all its overseas territories and suffered heavy losses in warships, leaving only ten ships. . From then on, Carthage's maritime dominance was completely bankrupt, and Rome became the dominant force in the Western Mediterranean.

The third war was shorter, lasting only three years, because Carthage had become stronger and weaker at this time. Under the excessive demands of Rome, which had gone from weak to strong, the city of Carthage was burned down. The fire burned for three days and nights, leaving only the remains of the ancient city. The Roman Republic basically completed its territorial expansion. By the 1st century AD, it had become a huge Roman Empire that spanned Europe, Asia, and Africa and dominated the Mediterranean. However, this was not the time when it was the largest in area.

The Roman Empire reached its greatest size in During the reign of Emperor Trajan of the Antonine Dynasty (98-117 AD), the economy was unprecedentedly prosperous, stretching from Spain and Britain in the west to the upper reaches of the Euphrates River in the east, from northern Africa in the south to the Rhine and Danube rivers in the north. The Mediterranean Sea once became the empire's inland sea. This period is The last stage of "Ancient Rome" The Roman Empire is more well-known. the time is 27-476 BC/1453 BC. Why is there one "bar"? Because the short one represents Western Rome and the long one represents Eastern Rome.

On January 17, 395 AD, The complete version of the Roman Empire The last emperor Theodosius I passed away. Before his death he cut the empire into two parts, the east and west, and divided them between his two sons. , I think this is to prevent the two children from fighting each other for power. No one should fight. In 476 AD, the Germanic Odoacer, the Roman mercenary leader, deposed Romulus Augustus, the last emperor of Western Rome, and the Western Roman Empire came to an end. The Eastern Roman Empire has lasted for nearly a thousand years, with 12 dynasties and 93 emperors. It is the oldest monarchy in European history. During this period people continued to insist that the Eastern Roman Empire was the "Roman Empire". What is the Holy Roman Empire? It has nothing to do with Rome. It was from 962 to 1806. With Germania as its core, including some surrounding areas, Feudal monarchical empire across Western and Central Europe.

This can easily cause confusion in terms of name, so in the 17th century, Western European historians used the term "Holy Roman Empire" to distinguish between the ancient Roman Empire and the medieval Holy Roman Empire. The Eastern Roman Empire was called the Byzantine Empire. Because the capital Constantinople was built on the basis of the ancient Greek city of Byzantium. In a word, Eastern Rome was Byzantium until Rome was destroyed by the Ottoman Empire in 1453, and this was the end of Rome.

After we finished visiting this small treasure museum, we came to the courtyard and found beautiful courtyards one after another, taking pictures in the setting sun. There is the only cafe in the courtyard for tourists to rest. Tunisia was once a French colony, and many locals also speak French in addition to Arabic. During the chat, I was surprised to learn that a girl in the group actually knew French. She was so awesome. She had lived and worked abroad for many years. There is a garden in the museum that charges a separate fee of 10 dinars. The girl communicated with the handsome guy on the staff, and finally the handsome guy let us enter for free and take some pictures of the outside.

Tozeur is a fringe city south of the steppe region and north of the desert. It is known as the gateway to the desert. was an important Numidian town in ancient times. It is located in Biskra ( On the trade road from Vescra (Biskra, in present-day Algeria) to Qabis, since the 11th century, it has been exporting high-quality dates, and also produced quiet and beautiful hand-woven carpets and silver jewelry. It was once a prosperous merchant town. When we walked on this lonely street with few pedestrians, let alone tourists, we felt the gap between different eras.

Although Tozeur now has an international airport to facilitate travel, it is still a small city in a niche country, and the streets are never cleaned. They are a bit dirty and some buildings are abandoned. Only stray cats patrol around and visit from time to time. Come out and joke with us. The brightly colored small villas on the street, red, yellow, and green, also look a bit lonely and dilapidated, and only part of them is quite good to appreciate.

Tozeur was also famous for its mirages created by hot air and the shimmering mineral salts of salty depressions. I really want to see mirages. It stands to reason that mirages are reflections of the real situation on the earth. However, some of them have not been found on the earth, and there are also speculations about parallel worlds. But if what KFK said is true, there are no parallel worlds, then that Where is the image without its body? It is the embodiment of other non-parallel worlds, such as Water Furong Hotel.

On the way, a French-speaking girl asked for directions from an idle man on the side of the road, and they had a good conversation. The remaining few people followed the road signs and refused to leave. It was getting dark, so we looked for a restaurant along the way that looked good. We turned back to the hotel without success. On the way, we met a young man selling roast chicken on the street. The French girl successfully chatted with her again, and bargained for a better price. success. The two young men rushed to take photos with us, smiling broadly.

While holding our fragrant roast chicken, we met a little boy holding a puppy on the road. The puppy was so cute, and the shy owner generously let us pet the dog and take photos. The sky became darker and darker, and the setting sun dyed a strand of pink-white hair in the sky red. After a while a large fire cloud came from the horizon, and the sky was filled with rays of rays, making the small red house even brighter. I think that at this moment, the seaside of Tangier will be the most beautiful skyline last year.

Street restaurants in Tunisia are also divided into different categories, including snack stalls, fast food restaurants, and formal restaurants, with a variety of cuisines. The French cultural legacy still affects this land, and there are many restaurants of all sizes. There are many French restaurants, and desserts are the most obvious example of this. Baguette is also a common food. I remember reading a document saying, "If you suddenly find a restaurant with exquisite decoration and elegant environment among a group of sloppy and hastily decorated restaurants on the street, you might as well go up and take a look at the menu at the door. It is most likely a restaurant serving French food. Of course, the prices can also be said to be comparable to those in French restaurants."

And because of its geographical location and historical wars, Italian food is also very common in Tunisia. If you want to eat Chinese or Japanese food, Southeast Asian food is quite difficult. I remember I wrote before that Tunisia has only opened up to tourism in recent years. In the past, not only was it difficult to obtain a visa, but it was not until tourists came to eat Chinese food that Chinese people living in the local area could start to buy soy sauce and vinegar.

None of the restaurants we found on TripAdvisor were open. Finally, we unexpectedly came across a five-star restaurant on the street near the hotel, so we decided to settle the matter here. This is an Italian restaurant, family-run, from the chef to the waiters. The door of the small store is covered with cooperation platforms, and it looks like it is really popular. The decoration inside the store is gaudy, and the waiters are meticulous. Although there are only 5 guests at our table, the young waiter is still dressed seriously, like a sommelier, wearing a small scarf, a small sweatshirt, and a small apron neatly.

The authentic Italian pizza made by the Italian chef allowed us to eat grilled chicken outside. We ate the Berber "braised naan" and ordered lamb chops, steak and Caesar salad, oh , I didn’t forget to clink glasses, February 18, 2018, the third day of the first lunar month, it was still the Spring Festival. No homesickness, just drink a drink instead of wine with the strongest blush in the sky.

When I was leaving, I found a fat, pregnant cat in the store at the door. It looked very much like my Huahua. The child was very dear to me, and I was allowed to touch it. Several girls took turns to do it. His hair was smooth and shiny, and his beautiful eyes kept looking at us. We shredded the leftover chicken with our hands and gave it to it. It ate deliciously and we were very happy. I took the uneaten chunks with me to the hotel gate and gave them to the stray dog I met in front of the door...

The journey is full of unknowns, and it is precisely because of the unknown that it is full of hope and fun.
