During this trip, I also booked a day trip to Ayutthaya. Ayutthaya is very close to Bangkok and is also translated as Ayuttaya. It was once the capital of the Ayutthaya Dynasty in Thailand and the star of "囧 in Thailand" and "Journey to the West". The filming location of "The Chronicle".

anna church

The first stop in Ayutthaya is Anna Church. Legend has it that Anna Church was built for Anna, the English teacher invited by Rama IV. It is the only church in the world that worships Gautama Buddha inside. Take the cable car across the river and see Anna Church on the other side.

Bang Pa-in Summer Palace

Bang Pa-in Summer Palace is very close to Anna Church and is located in the middle of Ayutthaya. It is an important residence of the Thai royal family outside Bangkok.

The Star Observation Tower is where the King and Princess of Thailand watch the stars.

Climb the Star Observation Tower to get a bird's eye view of the entire Bang Pa-in Summer Palace

Guifei Temple

The next stop of Bang Pa-in Summer Palace is Chaiwatthanaram Temple, also known as Guifei Temple. The Royal Concubine Temple is a temple built by King Basathorn in memory of his mother. The design style is Khmer style.

The Royal Concubine Temple retains a very obvious Khmer style, which is the architectural style of Angkor Wat.

Wat Mahathat

If you want to choose a landscape to represent Ayutthaya, it must be the "Tree Holding Buddha's Head" at Wat Mahathat. It is not only the symbol of Ayutthaya, but also one of the seven wonders of Thailand. It is said that when the Burmese army sacked Ayutthaya, the Buddha's head of the Buddha statue in Mahathat Temple rolled down under the Bodhi tree. After hundreds of years of development, the two merged into one, forming the current Buddha's head surrounded by Bodhi trees. spectacle.

After Ayutthaya was captured by the Burmese army, Wat Mahathat was severely damaged and there were no complete buildings left.

Yacha Mengkong Temple

Yacha Mongkong Temple is one of the oldest buildings in Ayutthaya. It was built by King Uthong, the first king of the Ayutthaya Dynasty, to commemorate his victory over the Burmese army. It is also the filming location of "囧" and "Journey to the West".

Before I came here, I specifically looked for stills from "Journey to the West" just to compare with the real scene at Yacha Mengkong Temple.

The filming location for episodes 24 and 25 of the 1986 version of "Journey to the West" is here

Climbing high can overlook the entire Yacha Mengkong Temple.

After visiting Yacha Mengkong Temple and returning, the day trip to Ayutthaya is over.
