When it comes to the Dai New Year, everyone's first reaction is basically "Water Splashing Festival", and the results of online searches for "Dai New Year" also all show Water Splashing Festival. It wasn’t until I participated in the “New Year’s Eve” of the Dai people at Jiegao Port last night that I realized that the real New Year of the Dai people turned out to be this day...

Today is the first day of the Dai calendar, which is equivalent to the "New Year's Day" in our traditional festivals. An elder brother of the Dai ethnic group told me that last night's New Year's Eve was their New Year's Eve, which would last for half a month. Each village took turns to celebrate, and everyone dressed up to welcome the New Year together.

Not only will there be a bonfire party, there will also be performances with modern elements, fireworks shows and a Dai special dinner.

The Water Splashing Festival is just one of the grander of their many festivals, not the New Year.

It is also possible that the Dai people in different places have different customs. The Water-Splashing Festival may be the New Year of the Dai people in other places. I haven't delved into this yet.

Today’s destination: one village and two countries.

One village and two countries is a typical geographical wonder of "one village and two countries". The national border divides a Dai village into two parts. The Chinese side is called Yinjing, and the Myanmar side is called Mangxiu.

The national border is winding, intertwined, and has no obvious boundaries. Sometimes a small ditch or a field ridge is the national boundary between the two countries.

There are many tourists here, but there are few people coming and going over there in Myanmar.

The "One Swing and Two Countries" swing in Yinjing Dai Village is located next to the national border, opposite Myanmar's Mangxiu Village. You can sit on it and swing gently, and you can leave the country in an instant.

One bridge connects two countries. The bridge is inlaid with genuine jade.

There is a warning sign next to the bridge "It is strictly prohibited to steal jade", but many jade stones are still missing.

The trail walked by the keepers is engraved with many common Burmese phrases

Friends who are training for civil servants together, do you have the same feeling as when we first learned Uyghur?

This is a national boundary between China and Myanmar. It is made of jade. The yellow one represents China, which represents broadness and tolerance, and the white one represents Myanmar, which represents simplicity and purity. Known as "the most expensive national border".

Over there is Myanmar. It is common for people in this village to go abroad and visit relatives.

Here comes something delicious, Pauluda, a famous dessert from Myanmar and Thailand. It was first popular in Southeast Asian countries such as Myanmar and Thailand, and later gradually spread to Dehong Mangshi, Dehong Ruili, Jinghong and other places in Yunnan.

Pauluda is made with sago, purple rice, papaya jelly, Burmese condensed milk, special buttered rusks, fresh shredded coconut and crushed ice. The recipe is relatively simple.

Among them, the buttery rusk is soaked in ice water with a rich milky aroma. It is soft in the mouth, crispy and sweet, which won my heart. But at the end of the meal, it was a bit sweet and cloying, and I couldn't finish it, leaving only half of it.

In the afternoon, we successfully met up with three Sichuan bosses who are running businesses in Ruili, and they took us to taste the authentic Dehong taste.

Burmese beer, I heard from the breeder, is more powerful than my deadly Big Wusu from Xinjiang.

Crispy Roast Suckling Pig, the aroma that wafted out when the waiter brought this dish from in front of me to the table aroused all the greed in me, and I swallowed my saliva and took this picture.

Pick up a piece of meat with golden crispy skin, dip it in some sea pepper noodles, and slowly put it into your mouth. The skin is crispy and fragrant, and the meat is tender and delicious. I feel so happy the moment I swallow it...

I’ve seen stir-fried small melon several times, but this is the first time I’ve eaten it. Like rapeseed hearts, it’s sweet and delicious. You’ll fall in love with it after one bite.

I didn’t remember the name of the dish, I just remembered that it tasted good. I think it was called sauerkraut. I’ll ask again tomorrow.

Herb pork chops are tied with lemongrass on the outside. The original intention of this dish is to eat the lemongrass and meat together. Unfortunately, I really can't accept the taste of lemongrass, so I had to remove it and eat only the meat.

The fried brown buns have a slightly bitter taste, which is acceptable.

Fried cucumber roots taste like potatoes and yam. The three of us like this dish very much.

The waiter said that, like sweet potatoes, papaya root is a plant whose roots are eaten, but Baidu papaya root became another name for chayote. I am confused again. Can anyone explain it to me?

The biggest pot on the dinner table is called "Beef Offal Hot Pot", which is a local beef offal hot pot. Add the mint leaves next to it and rinse it, which is great for rice.

Also, the avocados here are super big. Tomorrow I will try the avocado juice that the locals particularly like.

The end of a fulfilling day. I have been very busy these days. I have to go to bed early today. Good night everyone!
