Let’s walk together on the road of poverty-stricken travel...

What I want to share with you today is

Bahamas 's Travel Notes

Bahamas (Commonwealth of the Bahamas), an island country located on the west coast of the Atlantic Ocean. Since the focus of this trip to the United States was on the eastern United States, and the Bahamas was very close to Miami, the southernmost tip of the United States, I took the opportunity to visit it.

There are two unforgettable experiences in the Bahamas. One is that I experienced the exclusive beach of a five-star hotel without spending a penny. The other is that when I left the Bahamas, I was almost "forcibly kissed" by the black driver who took me to the airport~

Trip overview

Paradise Island, Bahamas-Downtown Bahamas. (PS: It’s so close to Cuba, I really want to go)

visa

The Bahamas itself is visa-free for China (Mainland), but currently there is no direct route and requires a transfer in the United States. Therefore, this visa-free policy is really confusing. Instead of applying for a transit visa to the United States, it is better to directly apply for a ten-year US visa.

Air tickets

Fly United from Miami to Bahamas.

currency

Just use U.S. dollars in the Bahamas.

transportation

There is no bus at the airport, so you can only charter a bus. It is best to discuss it with other tourists in advance. Sharing a bus is cheaper.

Approaching the Bahamas

If I were to use an idiom to describe the Bahamas, the first thing that would come to mind would be “big breasts and wide butt”. This country seems to regard this body shape as beautiful. The city is full of women with this shape, and they even tremble when they walk~

The Bahamas is hot and has a subtropical climate. Even in the afternoon, there was plenty of sunshine, so even applying two layers of sunscreen didn’t seem to have any effect~~

Paradise Island is really the best choice to experience the Bahamas, where the five-star Atlantis Hotel is located.

The most exciting and unexpected thing in the Bahamas was when a traveler unexpectedly entered the exclusive beach of a five-star hotel without spending a penny.

This is purely a mistake, and we have to thank the Bahamas for its poorly developed public transportation.

After getting off the plane in the Bahamas, the original plan was to take the airport bus to downtown Nassau, the capital of the country. Unexpectedly, there is no airport bus here!

After consulting the airport service counter, a taxi to the city costs 35 US dollars and to Paradise Island costs 42 US dollars. The Qingyou Party said it was unacceptable.

This is also the second time in my budget travel experience that I encountered an airport without an airport bus. The last time was in Aershan, Inner Mongolia.

But there are buses from Aershan to Irshi Town where the airport is located. In the end, the poor party chose to walk three kilometers from Irshi Town to the airport.

But this time, in order to save money, the poor party finally made an agreement with a French couple to carpool into the city together.

They are directly connected to the five-star hotel on Paradise Island, the Atlantis Hotel just mentioned, which is about half an hour away from the airport.

When I arrived at the hotel entrance, I asked the security guard in the lobby where the bathroom was. I wanted to change clothes and go to the beach. In fact, I just wanted to change out of my long-sleeved clothes and go to downtown Nassau.

As a result, the security guard mistakenly thought that I was also a customer staying here. After I finished changing my clothes, we looked at each other again, and then he enthusiastically guided me to the beach, which made me overjoyed, because this was not the scene in my guide.

Perhaps because it is the exclusive beach of a five-star hotel, there are not many people on the beach, and there are not many dumplings on the island. It is really good luck.

There is a bar with expensive products on the exclusive beach of Atlantis Hotel.

There are exclusive sea fishing equipment provided for residents here.

There are stalls selling souvenirs with obvious Bahamian elements.

There are service staff who can make hairstyles for customers on the spot. I think of a word on Douyin: Pan him~~

As a poor traveler, the waiter has perfectly avoided the above explicit consumption. Being able to have fun in the sea and bask in the sun on the beach without spending a penny already makes me very satisfied.

On Paradise Island, I was lucky enough to visit the aquarium that comes with the Atlantis Hotel, and I didn’t spend a penny either~~

But what is more embarrassing is that because the five-star hotel is too large, when I finally had enough fun and wanted to go out, I actually got lost~~~

If you have any questions, please contact the security guard~ I guess the security guard who inquired this time regarded me as a guest here. Under his personal guidance, I successfully found the hotel lobby. After expressing my gratitude, I secretly left this tall hotel. of five-star hotels.

The exclusive beach experience at the five-star hotel on Paradise Island is really an unexpected surprise. If you are interested, you can also visit the swimming pigs. My friend and I were fascinated by it as soon as we sailed to Shenzhen, and we have always wanted to come to the Bahamas to see how pigs swim.

The sea view of Paradise Island in the Bahamas is not inferior to that of Southeast Asia, and can even rival the Maldives. In order to save money, Xiaoer walked for half an hour on the highway to downtown Nassau, which is not too far away.

Although it is said to be an urban area, in fact its capital, Nassau, is not very big. There are only one or two streets where you can go shopping, and they are all close to the coastline.

Although it is the capital, there are no modern high-rise buildings. It is more like a Chinese "town".

Nassau reminds me of the East Timor I visited before. Although the country is not big, it is full of local customs.

The picture below shows a church I came across with wifi and air conditioning. It was noon, so I simply entered the church to escape the scorching sun.

The picture below shows a large market in downtown Nassau. It has a familiar feeling of Shenyang Wuai Market: clothing, shoes, hats, bags and department stores, everything is available~~

I came across a large oil tanker on the beach in Nassau. The exhaust vent was shaped like the tail of an airplane. The waiter liked it very much.

Before coming to the Bahamas, I thought there would be security risks here. In fact, there is no problem with security here at all. I was just overly worried.

Nassau's cultural and ecological environment are not bad, and most of the people here are leisurely and enjoy life.

Wander aimlessly in downtown Nassau and experience local life up close by walking through the streets.

Local people repairing their cars

young man playing basketball

Carpenters and craftsmen on the street

Policewoman in Nassau, the capital

For a person who loves sunrise and sunset, of course, you cannot miss the sunset in the Bahamas. As evening approached, I bought a can of Coke and walked to the beach on foot, quietly waiting for the sunset to arrive.

As a foodie, the most impressive food in the Bahamas was when I came across it on the way back to Nassau from Paradise Island. The entire street along the coast is full of small shops that process fresh seafood. Finally, I chose one with the most locals.

Originally I just chose small portions to taste together, but when the guy heard that I was from China, he made a large portion for me, saying that the extra portion was for me, and there was no last bit left, which left me with an aftertaste.

Through observation, I feel that I can usually do it at home:

①Cut vegetables (tomatoes, green & red peppers, onions) into cubes;

②Fruits (oranges, lemons) only need juice;

③Cut the shellfish into cubes and add sugar.

It’s sour, sweet and spicy, and paired with ice beer, it’s very refreshing~

There was another funny experience in the Bahamas, that is, I was almost "forcibly kissed" by a black elder sister. This is what happened: After watching the sunset on the beach in Nassau, I ran into a street restaurant and ordered a fried rice with local recipes. Fresh fish for dinner.

This is the shop with the most customers on the whole street. Visually, the taste is almost the same, and this is also true.

After dinner, I looked for a car to go to the airport. This lady was the proprietress of the restaurant and said she could give me a ride. We had a great chat all the way. When we arrived at the airport, I said we could take a photo together, and then the lady started talking to me. Haha~ The eldest sister said that our China is too far away and she really wants to visit it in her lifetime.

Finally, I end this travelogue with one of my favorite words:

Freedom is not free~~~
