In addition to the most famous Summer Resort in Chengde, there are also the "Outer Eight Temples". The Outer Eight Temples are the general name of the eight temples outside the Summer Resort. We don't have so much time, so we can only choose two distinctive temples to visit.
Our first stop today is Puning Temple. Puning Temple was built in the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty. Its characteristic is that it is a combined Chinese and Tibetan temple. The first half of the temple is in Chinese style and has the characteristics of traditional Han Buddhist temples; the second half is Tibetan style, built after the Sangyuan Temple in Tibet, two different styles of architecture are integrated into one, making the whole temple majestic.

The plaque on the temple is written by Emperor Qianlong in four languages: Manchu, Han, Mongolian and Tibetan. The Qing Dynasty government respects the beliefs of all ethnic minorities. The 6th Panchen Lama once stayed at Puning Temple, and the supreme leader of Mongolian Lamaism also visited here to worship, so Puning Temple is also a product of ethnic unity and a link between the Qing government and ethnic minorities.

The first half is in Chinese style, so there are treasure halls, bell towers and drum towers, and east and west side halls.

What do you think I mean here?

The second half is in Tibetan style, a mandala built in the style of the Samaya Temple in Tibet.

The Mahayana Pavilion is the central building of Puning Temple, with four Lama Pagodas of different colors at the four corners. The Mahayana Pavilion is 36.75 meters high and has 6 layers of double eaves on the front. Inside the pavilion is a standing statue of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva with Thousand Arms and Thousand Eyes, which is 22.28 meters high. It is carved from hard antiseptic wood such as pine, elm, fir, and linden, and weighs about 110 tons.

The restaurant we went to at noon today is called "Prince Banquet". Chengde is a place that is related to the emperor. As expected, this is a restaurant opened by the second generation. The restaurant opened by his father is called the new "Qianlong Restaurant", but the food in this restaurant It's really delicious. I didn't have much hope for Chengde food at first, but I was pleasantly surprised.
The more distinctive one is the fish head soaked pancake, but what they make is not pancakes but fried dough sticks. The freshly fried fried dough sticks are put into the thick fish soup. It has a mellow taste and crispy texture, which is a different kind of experience.

In additionits dishes are also very uniqueand taste really delicious.

The final staple food is sugar pancakes and dumplings. You can skip the dumplings. But how could you give up sugar pancakes, so I managed to eat too much again.

After eating and drinking, we started the afternoon journey. This is also one of the important tourist attractions in Chengde. The Putuo Zongcheng Temple, also known as the Little Potala Palace, is the one we saw from a distance on the mountain of the Summer Resort yesterday; I have never been to Tibet. , so I haven’t seen the big one with my own eyes.
Putuo Zongcheng Temple is a Buddhist temple built after Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty to imitate the Potala Palace in Tibet in order to celebrate his 60th birthday and the 80th birthday of Empress Dowager Chongqing.

It started to rain not long after we came in, so we had to hide in a small house to take shelter from the rain.

When the rain subsides, we will go up. Those with weak legs will have to wait below.
The main building, Dahongtai, is located on the top of the mountain, with a height of 43 meters. The Wanfa Guiyi Hall in the center of the platform is the main hall. The top of the hall is higher than the group of buildings. The top of the hall is covered with gilt fish scale copper tiles. More than 60 (more than 40 existing ones) flat-top tower-style white terraces and Vatican pagoda white terraces are arranged in a deep and free layout along with the mountain.

After climbing up the steps, it happened to be clear after the rain. The bright sunshine passed through the dark clouds and shone on the red wall, white pagoda and golden glazed tiles. Against the backdrop of the green mountains, Dahongtai looked even more majestic and magnificent, worthy of the title of "The Return of All Dharmas" One" palace.

Newly renovated buildings.

These five are considered to have relatively good physical strength.

When you go up to the top of the building, you can see the top of the "All Dharmas Return to One" Hall. It is covered with gilt fish scale copper tiles. The four roof ridges are decorated with corrugated gilt tiles. The top of the hall is decorated with Tibetan-style bells. The top of the hall is made of first-class materials. There are more than 14,000 taels of gold leaf, which is truly magnificent.

Today's dinner is a seafood buffet.

A happy day is over again.
