Introduction to Jacquardier Square: Jacquardier Square used to be a garden. It was converted into a public market in 1804 and is the center of the old city of Montreal. There is a monument built in 1809 on the square to commemorate the British General Nelson's heroic victory in defeating the French Napoleon navy at Trafalgar. In the summer, many street artists, magicians, and jugglers perform here. It is lined with cafes, restaurants, and craft shops, attracting crowds.
