Introduction to District 1: District 1 is centered on Plaza de Mayo and is the political and commercial district. The Avenue de Mayo starts from the Plaza de Mayo and ends at the Capitol Square at the west end. There is a pyramid-shaped monument on May Square, the Presidential Palace commonly known as the "Rose Palace", the cathedral with the tomb of the national hero St. Martin, the former City Senate Building, the Congress Building, etc. Parallel to May Street is Rivadavia Street, which is known as the longest in the world. There are many modern high-rise buildings in this area, and the world-famous Colon Theater is also located here.
