Introduction to Stanford Memorial Church: Stanford Memorial Church was built in 1903. In the 20th century, two major earthquakes in San Francisco caused serious damage to the church. Although the overall structure did not collapse, the bell tower and the exquisite mosaics on the exterior walls were severely damaged. After the 1989 earthquake, the church was closed for four years for repairs. The repairs were undoubtedly successful. Now there are no traces of earthquake damage inside or outside the church. The Memorial Church is only open to visitors during the day on weekdays. There is no ticket, but it can only be visited on the first floor. Stanford Memorial Church is not only a place for worship and carol singing, but also equivalent to the auditorium in Chinese schools. It is a place where teachers and students of the school often engage in activities, such as speeches, assemblies, graduation ceremonies and weddings. Moreover, as Stanford students, they even felt that being able to hold their wedding in the church of their alma mater was a very honorable and sacred thing. It is said that couples who come here to get married need to book a wedding date in the church a year in advance, and only students, graduates or staff of Stanford University are eligible to hold weddings in this church.
