Introduction to the Musée d'Orsay: France's Musée d'Orsay was built in 1804 as the Supreme Court. It was burned down by a fire. In 1900, it was built into a train station for the needs of the World Exposition. It gradually declined until 1986 when the train was turned into a railway station. The station was converted into an art museum. Its structure is quite novel. It is an academic stone arch made of iron and glass that combines Renaissance and classical styles. It is a symbol of French art in the 19th century.
