Introduction to Bastia: Bastia is located in the northeastern part of Corsica. It was the center of the Republic of Genoa from the 14th to the 18th century. It became the provincial capital of Corsica in 1975. .
Bastia is divided into two parts based on its ancient port: the city of Terra-Vecchia in the lower reaches of the north; and the city of Terra-Nova in the upper reaches of the south. The city's historic buildings, balconies full of colorful flowers, ancient streets, painted shutters and tall houses all exude a Mediterranean style. At night, the city's brightly lit old port, Romeo Gardens, and the city center and St.Jean Baptiste are both good places for tourists to stroll around.
