Introduction to Gellert Hill: Gellert Hill (Gellert hegy) is located south of Castle Hill, with an altitude of 235 meters. It is the highest place in the center of Budapest.
Mount Gellert is named after Bishop Gellert. The statue of the bishop on the mountain is surrounded by 12 semi-columns. On the 14-meter-high Liberation Monument on the top of the mountain is a bronze statue of a goddess holding a palm leaf, symbolizing Hungary’s liberation from the Nazis. Liberated from German occupation.
