Milan Corridor Introduction: The west side of Piazza del Duomo is called Merchant Square. There is an open three-story promenade called Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. It was completed in 1877 It is the most representative building in Milan during the Republic period.
The arcade of the promenade is in the shape of a long cross, 200 meters long from north to south and 100 meters wide from east to west. The huge arched dome in the center of the cross is about 47 meters high. On both sides of the promenade there are figures symbolizing America, Asia, Africa and Europe. It is a mosaic from mainland China, with arched glass on the top ceiling. There are various famous brand stores on both sides of the street in the corridor. The decoration is exquisite, and the store names are all in gold. This is a feature that cannot be found anywhere else.
