Introduction to Clare Bridge: Clare Bridge is a three-hole stone bridge with guardrails located at the back of Clare College. It was built in 1639 with fine workmanship and beautiful shape. It is the oldest existing bridge on the Cam River. There are seven stone balls on the guardrails on both sides of the bridge, and the two sides are symmetrical to each other. It is said that because the college only paid the builder 15 pence when the construction was completed, the architect was very angry and cut off a 15-degree angle from the back of the penultimate ball on the left guardrail.
