Introduction to the Church of Our Lady of Caravaggio: The Church of Our Lady of Caravaggio (Chiesa di Santa Maria di Caravaggio) was built in 1627 with a donation from Felice Pignella. The church was originally named Santa Maria di Santa Maria and was later dedicated to Our Lady of Caravaggio. The church is oval in shape, with only one corridor inside. The main altar is a painting depicting the Nativity of the Virgin painted by Gaetano Chigant. The three chapels on the right depict Francesco Solimena's "Saint Joseph" and the 18th-century "Our Lady of Providence" and "Descent of the Cross" by Domenico Antonio Vaccaro. The three chapels on the left are Luigi Scorrano's paintings of St. Anthony of Zechariah, the tomb of Blessed Bianchi, and the Seventh Blessed Virgin Mary. Crucifixion, and finally an apparition of the Virgin of the village of Caravaggio.
