Introduction to the Grand Canal: The Grand Canal was created by André de Le Notre. The project lasted for 11 years from 1668 to 1679, with a total length of 1,670 meters. It is the venue for many water celebrations.
Starting in 1669, Louis XIV sent people to bring boats and smaller warships. In 1674, the Republic of Venice sent two gondolas and four gondoliers to the king. They lived in a row of buildings at the top of the Grand Canal. From then on, this building was called Little Venice.
