Introduction to the Old Museum: The Altes Museum is located on the south side of Berlin Museum Island. It was built by architect Karl Friedrich Schenkel between 1823 and 1830. It is a new museum. A classical building, it is also the oldest museum on Museum Island. Currently, the museum mainly exhibits artworks from ancient Greece and Rome. It was listed as a World Heritage Site in 1999 as part of Museum Island.
