Introduction to the Brandenburg Gate: The Brandenburg Gate (Brandenburg Tor) was built in 1791. It is the symbol of Berlin and the national symbol of Germany. This building is in the neoclassical style and is modeled after the gate of the Acropolis in Athens. On the top of the gate is a bronze statue of the goddess of victory driving a carriage with spread wings. The scepter in the goddess's hand has an oak wreath, an Iron Cross and an outstretched wing.
