Introduction to sightseeing trains: Jungfraujoch sightseeing train, also called gear train, is a rare train in the world that runs in the clouds. This line was initiated by Adolf Guyer-Zeller, known as the "Father of Swiss Railways" , the project was constructed from 1896 to 1912 and was completed and opened to traffic on August 1, 1912. The Jungfraujoch Station at the end of the line at an altitude of 3,454 meters is the highest railway station in Europe.
The Jungfrau gear train is a 3-track narrow gauge train. The gear track between the two narrow gauges is used for train driving. Each train has two or three carriages and is driven by a power car. It travels the highest in the mountains. The speed is 24 kilometers per hour.
During the journey, you can see the steep rocks and majestic scenery of the Alps through the spacious train windows; at Kleins Heidegger below the famous northern slope of the Eiger, you can enjoy the unique mountaintop restaurant of the Eiger Glacier Station and the Antarctic Doghouse; the 7.1-kilometer railway before reaching the Jungfraujoch terminal was built in the Eiger Tunnel. This tunnel in granite took 14 years to complete. It is one of the legendary projects in the history of the world's railways. There are two small tunnels in the tunnel. At Eigerwand Station and Eismeer Station, the train will stop for 5 minutes at each station, allowing tourists to get off the train and admire the Jungfraujoch and the glacier through the glass windows cut into the tunnel rock wall, while also experiencing the arduous construction of the tunnel a hundred years ago.
