Introduction to Franz Karl's scriptorium: Franz Karl's scriptorium is connected to the living room. The oil paintings on the wall include the most famous family portrait painted by the court painter Martin van Meyden, Emperor Franz Stephen and Maria Theresa among their children. Opposite the family portrait are a series of portraits of women who played the most important role in Maria Theresa's life. On the right side of the mirror is her mother Elisabeth Christine, and on the left are her childhood teachers and confidants in her later years. The Countess of Forx, a woman she believed in so much that she was eventually buried in the Royal Mausoleum.
