Introduction to St. Peter's Monastery: Stift Sankt Peter is a Catholic Benedictine monastery that was first built in the 12th century and is considered the first monastery in the German-speaking area.
The Abbey of St. Peter was completely remodeled in the 1770s, with the original wooden ceilings replaced by Baroque domes and the frescoes by Caspar Menberg, Antonio Solari and other painters The painting becomes a Rococo style building. In 1783, the magical organ in the church showed its talents in the premiere of Mozart's "Mass in C minor".
The church cemetery is the oldest cemetery in Salzburg (1627). Most of the niches, tombs and tombs of Salzburg's famous families are buried here. Mozart's sister and Haydn's brother are also buried here. .
