Introduction to Kazimierz: Kazimierz is a historical district in Krakow, known for its Jewish community since the 14th century. After World War II, most of the Jews left Kazimierz, and many ancient buildings retain their appearance of being damaged by the war. Since 1988, Kazimierz has hosted an annual Jewish cultural event. In 1993, the famous director Steven Spielberg shot most of the scenes in "Schindler's List" in Kazimierz, making Kazimierz once again famous. Today it houses the Jewish Museum, as well as several other synagogues and Christian churches, among other notable attractions.
