Introduction to the Santiago Museum: The Santiago Museum (Museo de Santiago), also known as the Red House because of its color, was built in 1769. It is a representative work of Santiago's colonial architecture and was built with the last glory of the colonial era in mind.
After Chile’s independence, it served as the official residence of Chile’s first president and is now the Santiago Municipal Museum. Here, maps, photos and panoramic images are used to introduce the transformation process of the entire city from the colonial era to the present day. In addition to viewing the exhibition, the building's grand entrance, stone terraces on the first and second floors fully demonstrate that it is an outstanding colonial-style building.
