Introduction to ANKARAFANTSIKA National Park: It is 115 kilometers away from Mahajanga. It was established in 1927 and covers an area of 1,350 square kilometers. The rich wetlands and lakes here are a paradise for Madagascar's birds. As many as 126 species of birds (including the famous MESITE BLANC) attract bird lovers from all over the world. There are about 8 species of lemurs living in the reserve, which is the main habitat of the smallest primate, the mouse lemur MICROCEBE. The national park is one of the few protected areas in Madagascar where international animal research organizations are stationed year-round.
