The five golden characters "Comrade Zhou Enlai" on the base were inscribed by Comrade Jiang Zemin on December 31, 1997. The bronze statue was designed by Professor Li Shouren of the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing and cast by Nanjing Chenguang Machinery Factory. It weighs more than two tons.
