Square introduction: Xiyuan Temple was founded in the Yuan Dynasty to the Yuan Dynasty (1264-1294) and was first named Guiyuan Temple. At the end of the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty (1522--1566), Xu Taishi, the minister of Taipu Temple, built the East Garden (today's Liuyuan Garden) At that time, the declining Guiyuan Temple was rebuilt into a residential garden, named Xiyuan. In the eighth year of Chongzhen's reign (1635), lawyer Maolin was invited to serve as the abbot of the Baoguo Zen Temple. The temple was renamed Jiezhuanglu Temple and became the temple of the Luzong. The Dharma Assembly became very popular and was listed as a famous temple in Jiangnan. In the 10th year of Xianfeng in the Qing Dynasty (1860) and during the Cultural Revolution, the temple was in danger.
