It was designed by the famous architect Xu Jingzhi and modified by the architect Liang Sicheng to become the main building of the museum. The entire hall is majestic and majestic, and is a masterpiece in the history of modern architecture. Its structure was designed and built in accordance with the "Building French Style", and some details and decorations adopt the styles of the Tang and Song Dynasties. The five gold-plated characters "Nanjing Museum" on the upper side of the entrance of the exhibition hall were inscribed by the famous calligrapher Sha Menghai.
