Introduction to Soufriere Volcano: Soufriere Volcano is located in the southwest of Saint Lucia Island. This is a crater left when the volcano erupted half a century ago. It is also the only volcano in the world that can be viewed by car. The volcano has a crater diameter of about 6.5 kilometers, and there are 7 small volcanoes and 18 hills made of lava. According to experts, the Soufriere volcano has been active for decades after its eruption, so it is very likely that the Soufriere volcano will erupt again.
The entire Soufriere heritage site covers an area of 2909 hectares. The steep peaks in the territory are undulating and extend to the sea. The two highest volcanoes are 770 meters and 743 meters above sea level respectively. Yellow sulfur smoke from the volcano craters is all day long.
