Introduction to Daonan Temple: Daonan Temple is an important building in Donglin Academy. It was built in the 32nd year of Wanli in Ming Dynasty. It consists of the gate, front hall and Xiangtang. It was built with government funds at that time and was an ancestral hall to worship Yang Shi, the founder of Donglin Academy. The origin of the name of the hall is that when Yang Shi returned to the south, his teacher Chen Hao saw him off and said: "My road is south." The name of the temple "Daonan" is both a commemoration and a symbol of inheriting the academic tradition.

In addition to worshiping the sages and sages of Donglin in the past dynasties, the Daonan Temple's front hall was also the place where students were examined after the beginning of the Qing Dynasty. Its buildings have been repaired in every dynasty.

In the 36th year of the Republic of China, local people in Wuxi donated 600,000 yuan to repair Daonan Temple; in 1982, the government allocated funds for a comprehensive restoration of the gate, front hall, and Xiangtang of Daonan Temple. At the same time, the "Daonan Temple" plaque inscribed by Liao Lun, the magistrate of Wuxi during the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty, was restored on the gate.
