Introduction to the Monument to the Martyrs of the Liberation of Wanshan Islands: In 1950, the 131st Division of the People's Liberation Army fought fiercely for 71 days to liberate the forty-five islands of the Wanshan Islands, creating a miracle in the history of world naval warfare that the weak defeated the strong. In order to commemorate the martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the liberation of Wanshan Islands, the Zhuhai County People's Government built a monument in Gongyuan Garden in 1957.
