Introduction to the Confucian Studies Hall and the Confucian Lecture Hall: "Qianxue" and "Houxue" are two small quadrangle courtyards in the Meng Mansion. They are located on the west side of the first entrance courtyard and the west side of the "Yuanlv Building" on the 6th entrance courtyard of the Meng Mansion respectively. On the other side, they are also called Confucianism Hall and Confucianism Hall respectively.
During the Daoguang period of the Qing Dynasty, Meng Guangjun, the 70th generation descendant of Mencius and a hereditary doctor of the Five Classics of the Hanlin Academy, ran schools in the "Qianxue" and "Houxue" to recruit descendants of the Meng family, which were called "Three Qian Academy".
