Introduction to the U.S. Consulate: In August 1863, the United States established a consulate on Yantai Mountain. There were two buildings in total. The east side of the consulate was a brick and wood structure with an irregular design, which looked elegant and lively. The west side of the consulate official residence was a square platform. The two-story building above ground has a southeast double-sided external corridor, a sloping roof with an attic, clear water walls, and milky white windows. It has an architectural style of European classicism. Now, the former official residence of the U.S. Consulate is open as the "Yantai Opening of the Port Exhibition Hall". Focusing on the specific historical event of Yantai's opening as a port, it is divided into four parts and eight exhibition rooms. Through more than 200 objects, pictures and other exhibits, it vividly reproduces the Yantai port opening. From the Opium War to 1945, the development and changes of Yantai's social history were recorded. The history of Yantai's modern development is condensed here. It is a vivid historical textbook for us to understand the past, draw lessons from history, carry out patriotism education, and strengthen the construction of two civilizations.
