Introduction to Qiu Canghai Monument: There is a monument to Mr. Qiu Canghai in the square in front of Si Qin Pavilion, which is the monument of the former Kitashirakawa Palace. The stone base is still an old thing. Qiu Canghai is Qiu Fengjia, a famous patriotic poet. In 1895, the Qing government signed the Treaty of Shimonoseki with Japan and ceded Taiwan. When the news came, Qiu Fengjia was filled with grief and anger. He vowed to oppose cession and advocated the establishment of the Democratic Republic of Taiwan to resist Japan's takeover of Taiwan. He appointed himself the commander of the regiment and was known as the rebel army. On May 29 of the same year, the Japanese troops landed in Aodi and then occupied Keelung. On June 4, President Tang Jingsong of the Democratic Republic of Taiwan abandoned his post and fled to Xiamen. Seeing that the situation was unstoppable, Qiu Fengjia followed him and his family to cross the border. Before leaving the stage, Qiu Fengjia wrote a sad poem: "The prime minister has the power to cede territory, but the lonely minister has no power to return to heaven."
