Introduction to Sun Yat-sen University: There were five national Sun Yat-sen universities during the Republic of China, and they were later dissolved or renamed. Sun Yat-sen University in Xiziwan was rebuilt in 1980. It was originally called National Guangdong University. It was founded in Guangdong in 1924 by Sun Yat-sen, the founding father, and is known as the "Whampoa Military Academy" of liberal arts.
