Introduction to the Dagou Consulate: The British Consulate in Dagou is located on Gushan Mountain. It was built in 1866 (the fifth year of Tongzhi). It was the first consulate officially built by foreigners in Taiwan during the Qing Dynasty. The consulate has been baptized by wars and typhoons, and was once reduced to ruins. It was restored in 1987 and classified as a second-grade historic site.
