Introduction to the Star Appreciation Plaza: In the past, fishermen used bamboo and wood to build a lookout on the beach every June, and then tied fishing nets nearby. During the peak period, more than 20,000 kilograms of bonito could be caught at one time. However, good times do not last forever. Today, Qixingtan only has a silent beach, a few small boats, and a sky full of stars. It has become a place for stargazing, night stories, and tide watching. Qixingtan Scenic Area, with its coastal scenery, is a good stargazing spot on the outskirts of Hualien City; the Hualien County Government has specially built a stargazing square for real-name viewing.
