Although white-spotted eagle rays live near the coast at depths of about 200 feet, in open water they often form large groups and parade close to the surface. White-spotted eagle rays can glide great distances in open water. It can jump out of the water when being chased. When gliding, it uses the fluctuation of its pectoral fins to fly above the water.
