Introduction to Zhu Changnian’s old residence: During the Republic of China, No. 1 was Zhu Changnian’s residence. Zhu Changnian was the son-in-law of Tang Shaoyi, the first prime minister of the Republic of China. This Spanish-style independent garden house was built in 1932. The arched door frame of the main entrance is flanked by spiral Roman columns. There are exquisite and gorgeous carvings above the arch, showing an aristocratic style.
This villa once had a murder that shocked Shanghai. After the Anti-Japanese War began, there were rumors that Tang Shaoyi had contacts with Japanese spies, so Dai Li sent a killer to Shanghai secretly. On September 30, 1938, the killer came to Tang Shaoyi's home as an antique dealer and assassinated the old prime minister of the Republic of China in a pool of blood.
