Introduction to the Statue of Martyr Zhao Shiyan: Zhao Shiyan was an outstanding proletarian revolutionist in the early days of the Communist Party of China, an outstanding disseminator of Marxist theory, one of the founders of the Communist Party of China organization, and a famous leader of the labor movement. He was one of the main leaders of the three armed uprisings of Shanghai workers and one of the first five members of the communist group in France designated by Chen Duxiu. He and Zhou Enlai were Deng Xiaoping's introducers to join the party. His fifth sister is proletarian educator Zhao Juntao, and his nephew is former Premier Li Peng. In 1927, Zhao Shiyan was unfortunately arrested and sacrificed due to betrayal by a traitor. He was only 26 years old.
