Introduction to overwintering waterbirds: Starting from October every year, Shengjin Lake drops with the water level of the Yangtze River, exposing large areas of shallow water, mudflats, and swamps, becoming a good habitat for waterfowl, attracting a large number of geese, ducks, cranes, storks, and plovers. Waterfowl such as snipe and gull come to spend the winter and rest. There are 84 species of wintering waterbirds in the reserve every year, and the number of wintering waterbirds exceeds 100,000.
