Monument introduction: In the central square of Tikal, there are dozens of monuments that scholars call "steles of honor." They are arranged neatly and record the natural phenomena, political events and major religious ceremonies of the time. The earliest one was engraved in 292 AD, and the latest one was engraved in 869 AD. After that, the once extremely powerful Tikal suddenly died and was inexplicably abandoned in the jungle.
