Introduction to the Father of the Oriental Swan: Retired teacher Li Mingwei has been observing and protecting swans for more than 20 years on a voluntary basis. He spends his spare time every day in lakes, seashores and ports to care for swans and volunteers as a swan guardian. He is known as the "Father of the Oriental Swan". Through observations of swans' living habits and activity patterns, he wrote "New Discovery of Swans' Wintering Grounds". This article refutes the conclusion that swans only inhabit south of the Yangtze River in winter and makes a great contribution to the study of swans. Not only that, Li Mingwei also established my country's first mass voluntary swan protection association. Its members include retired cadres, retired teachers, students, soldiers and individual business owners. They work silently to protect this land.
