Introduction to Building 18: Building 18 is a residential complex for faculty and staff located southeast of Luojia Mountain. The overall architectural style adopts the British country villa style, but each building has its own characteristics. After the Japanese army invaded Wuhan, they changed the interior structure of some villas to Japanese style. Zhou Enlai's former residence and Guo Moruo's former residence are among them (No. 27, Building 19, and No. 20, Building 12, respectively, in District 1).
Zhou Enlai’s former residence is a standard English pastoral villa with red tiles and blue bricks, an open foundation, the front and back of the courtyard are surrounded by towering trees, and there are several stone steps leading down the mountain. The villa is separated by two Gothic-style arched doors. There is an exquisite garden between the buildings with a large banana tree.
In addition, there is the former residence of Su Xuelin, which looms between an old vine hanging in mid-air and the arms of an ancient tree. Yang Duanliu, Xiong Guozao, Ge Yanghuan, Liu Boping, Gui Zhiting, etc. all lived here.
