Introduction to the Monument to the Victims of Monks and Laity: On the 16th day of the seventh lunar month in 1940, the Japanese invaders attacked the Yuquan Ancient Temple. Dozens of monks in the temple and nearby villagers were martyred. Later, the Japanese and puppet county magistrate Fu Zuoyi (from Jiaodong) died in December of the following year. I wrote an article on the stone to record its historical facts. The stele is now stored in the East Zen Hall of Yuquan Temple.
