Xiamen Gulangyu Island has beautiful scenery and well-preserved buildings of various Chinese and foreign styles. It is known as the "Garden on the Sea" and "World Architecture Expo". Because of the many talented musicians on the island, it is also known as the "Piano Island" and "Hometown of Music". Gulangyu has short and crisscrossing streets. It is one of the largest satellite islands of Xiamen. The rocks on the island are majestic and tall. Due to the long-term beating of the waves, many valleys and cliffs, beaches, reefs, cliffs and rock peaks have been formed.Gulangyu was originally named "Yuanshazhou", also known as "Yuanzhouzi". It was named "Wulongyu" in the Southern Song Dynasty and renamed "Gulangyu" in the Ming Dynasty. There is a reef more than two meters high with a cave in the southwest beach of the island. Whenever the tide rises, the waves hit the reef, making a sound like beating drums, so people call it "Gulangshi". Gulangyu got its name from this.

How to get there:
Gulangyu Island is separated from Xiamen Island by the 600-meter-wide Lujiang River. You can take a ferry to the island at the Xiamen Ferry Terminal. The outbound trip is free, the return trip is 8 yuan, and 4 yuan after 20:00.
The first flight from Xiamen Station is at 05:45, and the first flight from Gulangyu Station is at 05:30 and 06:00.
07:00 → 19:00, every 10 minutes. 21:00-24:00, about every 20 minutes.
