It is not only the only "artificial Danxia" miracle in China, but also known as "the best of Lingnan".
There is a myth about the origin of the name of Lotus Mountain. It is said that a long time ago, there was an evil dragon in the South China Sea, which caused storms at the mouth of the Pearl River, often flooding fields, overturning boats, and causing great harm to residents along the coast. It happened that Guanyin of the South China Sea was traveling here, and saw the evil dragon causing disasters and suffering to all living beings. She showed great compassion and threw the lotus she was riding into the water to suppress the evil dragon. The lotus turned into a huge stone, which forever suppressed the mountain and became the Lotus Mountain today. Nantianmen Side Lotus Stone , hence the name Lotus Mountain.
