Introduction to woodblock New Year pictures: Kaifeng Zhuxian Town New Year pictures originated in the Northern Song Dynasty. During the reign of Emperor Shenzong of the Song Dynasty, the custom of affixing Zhong Kui on New Year's Eve was already in the palace and government. At the end of the Northern Song Dynasty, in Kaifeng City, "around the New Year's Day, the market was full of stickers about door gods, Zhong Kui, peach boards, peach charms, and Cai Men Blunt Donkey, Turning Back Deer Horse, and Tian Xing Posts." "Ru Meng Lu" states that during the Song Dynasty, "paper horse shops were all over the city", which is supported by the description of the "Wang's Paper Horse" shop in "Along the River During the Qingming Festival". These historical materials fully prove that Kaifeng City is the origin of New Year paintings in Zhuxian Town, Kaifeng, and also the source of Chinese woodblock New Year paintings.
